It became apparent to him and eventually the board, that they’d got the Viv Anderson and Danny Wilson appointments the wrong way round. They very quickly realised that Danny would be a far better manager than Viv. Moving on 20+ years, we have Morais and Dimas. On the occasions where Dimas has done press conferences, he’s come across really well. Whilst I’ve no idea what goes on behind the scenes, you do wonder if maybe History has repeated itself. It still early doors, and even the best managers take time to turn things around, so we’ll soon see where it takes us - but I do think Dimas did seem switched on when interviewed, and comes out with less ‘riddles’ when doing his press work. Just food for thought.....
Interesting point, but I wonder if the real difference in the interviews is the confidence in their command of the English language.
Good point. That could be the case. I am impressed with Dimas, albeit we’ve only seen bits of him. It’s a difficult one to call - whoever came in was going to struggle. Time will tell.
You’ve only got to see Morais being interviewed to see he doesn’t really have a clue what he’s on about.
I’m not so sure about that to be fair. Look at what Mourinho comes out with sometimes in the press conferences..... but he’s one of the world’s best coaches. Sometimes the manager comes across in a bizarre-like manner on purpose, to deflect blame against the players - taking the flak basically. Time will tell whether Morais is a good manager or not. It just stood out to me that Dimas always seemed more thoughtful. But as others say - that might be because he has a better command of the English language.
If you judged them on press conferences alone then Dimas is far more impressive but that’s probably irrelevant. What worries me is we don’t really have many been there & done it types, like Robins had with Moore, Foster, Hassell, Devaney, Gray etc. The young players need lots of guidance & I just hope he can get his message across. Don’t like to read ‘clueless’ & comments like that, he’s obviously knowledgeable about football it’s just there’s managers out there who’ll be better or at least better equipped to our circumstances & can probably get a point across to young, inexperienced players
So you are saying that a guy who has coached some of the top players in Europe has not got a clue because of his interviews ? i think its not him who hasn"t a clue !
that’s certainly true. Time will tell. I hope he does well and keeps us up, then builds on it next season.
