Its not the same thanks to Franchise FC uprooting a club and taking them to another town miles from their home. I wish MK Dons would implode.
I think that's why it does make sense to consider AFC Wimbledon as the true modern day incarnation of the club that played Liverpool in '88. That way the links between the old Wimbledon and the current MK Dons are eroded still further by AFC being associated in people's minds with the Crazy Gang era. Should such a possibility ever arise again then nobody can be under any illusions that the result is to all intents and purposes a new club that took a shortcut to league status at the expense of the one it subsumed.
Franchise nicked their league status but the won't take their history. Hear the name Wimbledon and you'll always think of Vinnie Jones, Dave Beasant, Dennis Wise et al, hear the name MK Dons and you'll think, er.........
Nobody would have made a fuss over this tie had it been Liverpool vs MK Dons. A club that bought it's status trying to claim the credit of another club. AFC Wimbledon are the successors of Wimbledon, not MK Dons.
He's trying to say neither are successors to WIMBLEDON, that AFC have no right to say this game is a repeat of the 1988 final. He says both teams are new and WIMBLEDON are dead and should be left to Vinny Jones et al. What an absolute tw@t, Winkelman killed them and this puppet just sums up everything I hate about football
