Just phoned currys up about a TV and the woman who answered was very rude asking how i'd got the number for the store, when I said I found it on the internet she said 'no you didn't' so I explained that i'd used the saynoto0870 website and she said 'you cant phone the store up to answer questions, thats what our head office is for'. 'ok sorry I thought that was why the store had a telephone number'.
I thought i'd take the risk anyway and ask whether their price promise applied to products found in argos in the town centre. 'i'm not going to deal with something like that over the phone, you have to come into store not use the phone'.
bye bye, thats £500/£600 you've just lost.
In comparison I then phoned the Parkgate store and a very helpful man answered the phone 'hello currys rotherham (or parkgate I don't remember) how may I help you?' and then spent 5 minutes on the phone trying to help out. Turned out he couldn't but that's not the point is it, he tried.
Why do some people who work directly with the customer act as though the customer is the devil?

Report her to their Head Office. I don't think Currys senior management would be too happy at losing a sale.
**** em Xerxes, if Barnsley Currys don't want my business then i'll happily shop elsewhere, she'll be out of a job soon enough with the way their profits are going anyway.
I feckcing hate electronics sales people In my experience they're arrogant, ignorant ***** who reckon they know it all
There's nothing more fun than going into Currys or PC World and asking for some advice on TV's. It's quite staggering how little they actually know about the products. I sometimes make up a word and ask them if a set has any - yes is the usual reply.
Trying going in Ask for a DAB radio that is portable and has an alarm. Do it regularly just for a laugh.
Did you honestly expect.... ....to ring up a large company/organisation in this country and get a sensible response ? Even if you were trying to give them a lot of money it makes no difference.
I'll contact Head Office on your behalf My girlfriend works there. I know the boss would be absolutely apoplectic if he heard about this. They've just spent a fortune on customer services training!
I had the same problem. Went for a TV for my Kitchen. The one I wanted was on a shelf but not switched on. I asked an assistant if I could see it working and got the baffling reply 'sorry I havn't time to demonstrate TV's I'm too busy' I promptly left the shop and bought it elsewhere within the next half hour.
When I was a bit younger I used to amuse myself sometimes by going into Currys or Dixons at lunchtime and testing out the sales staff The made up word one is quite a good one Did you know that speaker cable degrades after a few years because the copper ages for example or that you can plug 4 - 8 ohm speakers into the 2 speaker outputs of a mitsui midi system with no loss of performance because the amplifier AGC circuit will compensate.
They are just the same on the phone as in person then A few years back I wanted a new TV and it was a choice of 2, both approx £700. So in Currys I asked if they could connect Sky Digital to them. The assitant said "You can see Sky on that TV over there", so I explained that it was the TV I was interested in and wanted to see what Sky was like on it as that is what I would be watching. He said they are basically all the same! I then asked if he could connect it so I could see and he said "we don't do that, it's too much hassle", so I said "Well in that case, it's too much hassle for me to spend £700 here" and walked out.
Same as PC World then. Useless numpties. Girlfriend wanted a laptop, and they tried selling her all sorts of crap with all sorts of add ons. Luckily, I was there and stopped her. The guy giving her the hard sell pretty much called me a stupid liar when he tried selling her Nortons and I told him we'd use AVG free as I'd never had a problem with that. How to keep the customer happy, lesson one.
Try these - they're brilliant http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/ I bought a Samsung LCD TV from them in 2006. It was advertised as a HD Ready set, but when it arrived it was 'HD Compatible' (i.e. it didn't have a HDMI input). I phoned them up and they agreed to send me the next model up in the range (which should've been £100 more expensive) for no extra charge plus they arranged the courier to come and collect the set I had and bring the new one. They were out of stock of the new model but they just said 'Don't worry about it - use the one you have until the new one comes in'. About a week later it was all sorted. Six months later I moved house. When I got into the new place the HDMI input wasn't working. I phoned them up and they sent me a brand new TV straight away no questions asked. I honestly could not recommend a company more highly, and their prices are good too.
Thats why companys use call centres Its just to obstruct, block, and hinder any contact with the stores or any people that have any responsibilty. All they want is ya dosh (kissmyass)
Apple Shop I've visited 3 or 4 now and it doesn't matter whether it's New York, London or Norwich you always get helpful, knowledgable, friendly staff who genuinely seem as if they want to help.
Nah I'm old and boring now havent been in a Currys or Dixons for years - could do PC world I suppose but lifes too short - if I have time to waste I waste in on here these days
