Even if you dont want to,i bet within 10 mins of reading this ,you find something you will make you laugh,and then you put the telly on,you watch ,candid camers,and shows like that,and you laugh ,usually at some ones misfortune,and all the time your laughing at your selfes,thats how ,people who put shows to gether are rich,like the Carry on films,or old laurel and hardy films i wonder what those film makers would have done with this Scenario in our Camp,in KOREA1953,, read on,i hope i can explain it right.......I was in64fld pk sqdn,Stores troop we had two tents ,10 man tents,just like the cowbous had it was all yankee stuff, we had a office,come guard room,made asian canadian style Thatched roof,the floor was a foot thick of sand,under the floor was a kind of tunnel,made out of 40 gallon drums,When winter came 30% below,we lit a fire under the office,and it warmed the sand thatwas the central heating), out side of the office was a fire extinguisher,the like you have never seen,now i am 5 foot 2,this thing consisted of 2 big wheels,and a big RED bottle,the bottom just a foot from the floor,Now all the time i was there it was never checked,it just stood there..now next camp to us was DOG troop,who were on their own,and rightly so,they had a tough job to do,out on patrol every night in No mans land,,now they were on higher ground than us ,and to get there we had a ramp,a steep little hill man made also at the top of the ramp,was pour mess room,where any thing that resembled a meal,was Purly Coincidental,(sorry cooks,not your fault)powdered eggs,powdered Taties,powdered porridge,the only meat was a chicken leg if you were lucky,the best meal of the day was Naafi break,OH yes the Korean war stopped for that,a cup of tea,and DOG Buscuitsmand Cheesema luxuary, now if you have read this so far, i will now tell you what i am getting at...Read on,....this day i was in camp for Lunch(BIG DEAL).as i approache the Messroom,there was this Corporal,BUSTY BERNIE we called him,now he is easy to describe,he was the Late Ronnie Barkers double(believe me)and as funny,you never knew when he was joking or not,as i approach,he is looking towards DOG TROOP tent,he goes in the mess room ,and the lads sat there he says,its a bit hot over in your tent,its on fire,the replies were Piss off busty,im telling you your on fire,so one of the lads has a look,..and yells Bloody hell,its a blaze,with that every one dashes out, now by this time its well a light,even the ammunition is exploding,the lads go to this Fire Extinguisher and try to push it,they cant budge it,and when they do it goes one way then another as each whee becomes free....they push it up the ramp,,they are knackered by this time,it gets to the top,they let go it runs back where it came from.....bullets are flyin every where,they have another go,this time they make it the fire is nearly out by now....some opens the valev, and it goes PLOP PHUTT,and thats all..the tent iis burned to the ground, a week later or less the War is over,and dog trop get a new tent,and Corporal Busty Bernie(ronnie Barker look alike)sat and had jis dinner through it all, and when he survayed the scene,said well done lads,,,,,i do hope you have enjoyed this one ..Come on Barnsley...
