Yes we nearly let it slip but we deserve some luck

Thought first half we played like a top 2 team

15 minutes of the second half we looked like our league position suggests

But that's Barnsley through and through they like to keep you wondering

Great game to watch and we deserved the win

Win next week and we could well go on a decent run and get out of this mess

There is no doubt we are improving but our defence is shocking at times

Mawson just gets worse and needs dropping quickly

    Thought winnall was superb

Too ******* right. Some players can't put a foot wrong. Alfie can't put one right at the minute. Great day though.

A few weeks ago we wouldn't have won away let alone scored 3. Plenty in the last few weeks to suggest gradual improvement.

    Completely agree

When your bottom of league any win is a fantastic win

It's a shame we can't sort the defence because going forward we are the best in the league

I don't think luck played it's part to be fair. We sounded like we deserved a win based on our first half performance alone. How important was the goal from Toney. It sounded as though Colchester couldn't get any worse, and considering they have several players in their ranks capable of scoring at will, and we have our defensive frailties, only the naive would have thought we could hold out without conceding.

A fantastic 3 points to take into a very difficult game next weekend.

The win was lucky in the end Colchester had the chances to draw and maybe even win. Doesn't mean that I was ecstatic at the final whistle. My favourite we in ages but definitely an element of luck.

This 'luck' aspects really confuses me. The other week, when we'd lost narrowly at Peterborough, some of ours fans attending the game said we'd played very well and had been unlucky to lose. They were rounded upon and told in no uncertain terms there is no such thing as luck and they were making excuses for the manager & players.
However, there's been a number of occasions when folk have claimed we've been lucky (for example, our victories over Burton & Colchester and the draw against Sheffield United) to get something out of a game.
Does luck actually exist? Or, if it does, can it only work in our favour? Any positives can be attributed to good luck, but negatives can't be attributed to bad luck?
From one utterly confused, old man.:D

    I would recommend this.

Lots of interesting stuff about sport, and apparent changes in form/luck with changing managers.

    Thank you, old mate.
I've always blamed our lack of luck on Jim Iley.
