Interesting. Can't see the right wing press wanting such headlines. Being a Labour government achieving more than the tories. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/home-office-smashes-targets-with-mass-surge-in-migrant-removals
Just watched the first couple of episodes of “Go Back to Where You Came From” on Channel 4. Nathan from Barnsley sadly reflecting the racist views that seem prevalent in our town.
I thought long and hard about watching it and in the end decided against. I'd hope the ignorant knuckle draggers find enlightenment by the end, but I don't want to have to watch it. And sadly, we have millions of ignorants in this country, so a handful sadly isn't going to move the dial.
I think there is a lot to dislike about this Labour Government, but I do believe they take the job of government seriously, unlike what we have had to endure previously, particularly since the Brexit vote. And what a shock. More people get deported if you're willing to do the work required to maintain some sort of immigration system, than if you send an empty flight to Rwanda and book loads of hotels for people to stay in because you can't be bothered to implement any sort of plan.
Very much agree with this. The tories gave up governing. Three successive PM's for very different reasons just didn't do the job. They enjoyed the title, generally without being elected and shirked decisions, I suspect on purpose enduring Labour inherited a sh*tshow. I don't recall ever seeing a sitting government intentionally making things worse for the next. Jail terms wouldn't be out of order. But like you, there is a lot not to like. The current attack on regulatory bodies and the environment really doesn't sit well with me at all. But despite that, it's still far better than the self serving populist loons we've endured or the even worse self serving fascists.
A government that puts the majority b4 the minority on a social justice basis will always get my vote. There may be things I don't like. Like having to suck up to other governments of this world, but that's sometimes difficult to avoid on certain issues. The fuel allowances removal were unpopular. (Not among all pensioners mind, choosing to want to give to those in need most.) But I never saw tories out and about giving pensioners advice and help to get benefits they are due to. Which would could also have brought about the allowance. Barnsley indoor market has a stall offering such advice.
Reenver mwhen channel 4 visited Barnsley following the brexit results and aired let's say "selected" interviews of the Barnsley public. Is this how the Barnsley chap was chosen?
