No benzos or owt. I don't want an iPad and been looking at the Google Nexus thing. Anybody know owt abart em? Worth 200 *******s? Sithi.
Bloke at work got a Nexus, was looking at it other week, realy nice piece of kit and can't beat it for the price.
Been looking at the new ipad and saw the ad for the google one (camping trip), out of the i-family we have iphones, ipods and ipod touch in the household. We need a new family laptop so we are torn between something along the lines of a Dell or an ipad. My argument is that the ipad is a big version of my phone, for pissing about with apps and games and for watching films tv, why someone would wanna watch a film on their ipad in their living room instead of watching that screen thats already on is beyond me. The little girl is about to start GCSE's so we want something practical for her schoolwork with the normal programmes excel, word etc. What would be the best choice? I think what l'm asking is - Is the ipad just a bigger version of the iphone for pissing about on apps and games or can it be used as a main family computer for school work etc? Sorry for nicking thi thread Dyson. Oh and how quickly can you clear the browsing history on an ipad? turn of a door handle?
iPads - why do people take them out and use as cameras?! Saw loads during the Olympics, 1. You look stupid. 2. It's completely impractical and my smartphone that fits in my pocket has just as good a camera on it. 3. You look stupid!
You need a lap top mate. An i-pad is a nice toy but it's not for sitting down and doing your school work on. It can be done but it's far less practical, enjoyable or comfortable.
That might be slightly better. But wouldn't be hand held. In fact, I'd have my hands full. Throw Darlene in too for some exotica
Just to add to that http://wordprocessing.about.com/od/onlineservicesandstorage/qt/iPad_and_word_processing.htm
If you are wanting something really portable thats functional for proper work like work processing etc.. then id probably look at a macbook air. Bit bigger than that and in the PC line is the new ultra books that have started to come out. not tried one but would be nice and light for lugging around. Ive got a Transformer Prime and its great for browsing and doing the odd bit of typing - emails etc but it couldnt replace my laptop for work. Too fiddly as they are designed primarily for touch screen. Its great being able to do both touch and type at the same time though.
You probably need this if you want to do word processing on an iPad http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencet...icial-typewriter-dock-mimics-pre-PC-days.html
take a look at this as an option good bit of kit this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-X101CH...E9RG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1346330304&sr=8-3
also this to improve it a good deal http://www.amazon.co.uk/204-pin-SOD...ule/dp/B002ZME33Q/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_img_c less than a tenner for that ... good value I think.
this is what I have..its fantastic maybe a bit pricey but its an awesome machine http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pavilion-dm1-4175sa-11-6-laptop-12567090-pdt.html
I've got an iPad 2. Brilliant piece of kit and you can get a nifty slimline keyboard/case for it for about 80 quid if you also want to do lots of word processing etc BUT... I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy 7" 8GB Tablet for £199 for testing an Android application on that I've written. It's maybe a bit small for your needs but there is a 10.1" version as well. Wow! I'm very impressed especially for the price! It's running Adroid 4.0 and I reckon its about as good as the iPad. I really like the 7" format. Makes it very handy in my opinion. The Nexus 7 is a very similar spec give or take. (16 gb for 199 but theres not memory upgrade and no back camera. It does run 4.1 jelly bean though)
