**** me, West Yorkshire police couldn't have got it as wrong if they tried!

Brilliant book though if you like the old crime read every now and again. The last chapter is all the transcripts from Sutcliffe's confession interview, very very chilling to read his thoughts and the reason why he did it.

    I've read that

And very good it was too.

I think Sutcliffe got stabbed up just before crimbo, with a pen if I recall

    Just finished re-reading

The Thought Gang by Tibor Fischer. Cracking stuff if you like bank-robbing clapped-out francophile philosophers and the letter Z.

I read that book a couple of years ago and I think it was on your recommendation. Thanks - it was a rather enjoyable read - have you read any of his other stuff?

THE ROAD by Cormac McCarthy. Pretty grim but highly enjoyable book - would definitely recommend.

I have, but that's his best to date IMHO. The Collector Collector is worth a look.

After reading the ripper book... look for the Red Riding Quartet by David Peace.

Counterfactual novels set around the ripper investigations. Very very dark.

    The first one is 1974

Someone be honest and put up a less impressive book

A Mills and Boon or Jeffrey Archer
A Viz annual or even Terry Pratchett

I cant oblige as I am reading Bleeding Hearts by Ian Rankin (writing as Jack Harvey)
Which is a decent crime novel written from the baddies point of view

Don't hold your breath. If you skim read it you might miss the paragraph about Yorkshire (Bradford).

Cider With Roadies (his other book) is much much better.
