He was right to axe Ritchie. We would have got relegated. He appointed Davey becasue he did really well. Why he is getting grief for the Shef Wed defeat? It is rediculous. Before the Wednesday game quite a lot of people wanted Davey, where are these people now? Shepherd gets loads of abuse, unfairly so. He didnt have to reply to that letter, he took the time to which is more than many chairmans would do. Be greatful we still have a club and be greatful he acted when he did or we would be bottom of the league by now instead of one...YES ONE point from safety. Yes he said he wanted an experienced manager like we all did, but when the only candidates are Blackwell and Worthington who would have demanded huge wages then what choice does he have. Davey earned the job and the fact that we have been defeated by two vastly superior teams since his appointement is overlooked. Too much attention has been payed to the fact that it was Wednesday that beat us. Who cares who it was. They are a better team than us and have been for some years, they may be our closest rival but this is distance only I'm afriad. We were understrength severly for both Wednesday and Wolves games so a beating was always on the cards. Get behind the team. Get behind Davey. get behind Shep.
I'd respect the board and their decision if they'd come out with something like "we've appointed Davey because the financial restraints on the club are quite tight, and the money earmarked for a new manager has been added to the funds available for team strengthening. of the alternative managers considered, we did not feel that any of them were sufficiently without weakness to afford to gamble on whether an appointment at Barnsley would provide us with success or not." All this points per game stuff is absolute crap. But what do I know? I'm "outside the game" and am therefore an absolutely clueless idiot.
Once again totally agree, but be carefull putting that sort of stuff on here as half the people on here won't understand some of the words!!
It would probably be more than half. The trouble with a lot of the posters on this board is. They think that they have a right to publish their inane opinions about people, who ever they may be. To cause embarassment, ridicule and numerous other objectionable effects but then get all indignant when it is returned with interest. Like the old saying says:- " If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen!".
I dont understand some of the words like "becasue" and "rediculous." and thats just in the first line Sorry couldnt resist - no sign of EastStander and someone has to do it! Seriously though whilst I cant claim to be a football insider I do know a bit about customer relations and I dont really think that Shep has done himself any favours with that response If he is going to reply to fans directly - which is actually in all fairness a really good thing to do - that sort of reply was always going to get the response it has - Something similar could have been written in a much less confrontational manner - Oh and it may be nit picking but getting the number of points ritchie won right wouldnt have hurt. Personally I wouldnt have got rid of Ritchie, and having done so wouldnt have appointed Davey but Shepherd has every right to do both. I really dont know anything about what went on to cause those decisions - I just hope it wasnt really done on points per game in the way outlined
