Howie has been the most exciting player at the club since Higgy & at 25 with 10yrs or less left of his best money earning years left i.e. those as a pro footballer who can put their hand on their heart & say they dont want to maximise their earning potential during their working life?

Risk of being a pro are that 1 bad tackle, fall or slip can end a career... not many of us can say that can we?

Now if the club hasnt got really good insurance or the opposing players club hasnt they can be sat wi nothing to fall back on bar their savings/investments. Meaning probable enormous lifestyle changes for player & dependants.

All those calling him greedy be honest would you want to stay somewhere when you could double or triple your earnings?

Not only that but consider that at times footballers are sold against their will simply to keep playing... have to upsticks and move sometimes to other countries. Not a stable employment option.

And lets remember what happened to the lad who was badly injured in the car crash - refused entry to players lounge under the then regime as soon as his contracts finished.

Players generally treated like commodities not humans.

Think you'll find many areas where employees who are leaving are sent on gardening leave

    by employers.

Whats your evidence Howie is declining to work?

Davey saying publicly he doesnt figure in his plans. Happen the statement on club site saying media must apply to clkub to speak to their employees was nowt to do wi Lazarus but to do wi Bri & Mav10 is reyt he's been gagged

there is career move and greed move though.

as we saw with Nardiello,Wilson,,McIndoe, and thats just at this club. Sorry but "awww poor poor underpaid player" lark simply will not wash with me. There are certain investments that pay high returns (or did before the credit crunch) with the amount of monies they get they should be able to set out a fund, that would make you and I green with envy, for later life. But most live the dream and get the fast lane lifestyle/bling look ASAP.Judging by Brian's lovely "fake" tan he is no exception. Do not be fooled by them saying "oh its only the Prem that make big bucks", its reported that Sheff Utd were to double Howards wages to 8k a week.so if thats so then its 4k at Barnsley .So thats 16k a month .. 192k a year.Over a 4 year contract then thats 768k. Thats just for 4 years of his playing life. If a man cannot invest for the future from ove THREE QUARTERS OF A MILLION POUNDS then I have no sympathy with that man AT ALL

No, BFC FANS have short memories imho and tunnel vision much of the time.

If I bumped into Bri in Sheffield & he was a Blunt I's still have a chat & offer him a drink for the good memories he's given me in the last few years.

From hero to zero in the bat of an eye is ridiculous

Howard is a good player and will probably do well at Sheff UTD but when was the last time he showed 100% towards Barnsley and use his leadership ?

hang on, you've just given the worst possible examples

Nardiello - Watched the rest of the squad sign new contracts while he waited to be offered one. Was then offered a new contract but the manager splashed out on odejayi and an international striker at the same time. It was quite obvious that he was not in Davey's first team plans for the coming season so he chose to sign at another club.

Wilson - Ask Neil Redfearn, he'll tell you that Wilson's job had become impossible here as his best players were allowed to leave.

McIndoe - He left to go to a team that he thought had a decent shot of getting to the premiership. It very nearly paid off too.

You listed three players and al three were career moves

    on the flip side

they know all that when they take the career on. If they want to earn a lot of cash they have to take those risks.just like the normal man in the street - if he wants to make it big he has to take a few risks. At least they have this gift as a talent. Most people are not that lucky and have to rough it through life. Dont try and make us feel sorry for them ally.they dont know how lucky they are some of em. Most footballers think they are a cut above everyone else.they forget that without us they would be nothing.

    Not at all comparable

Howard has a fixed term contract, he was probably grinning when he signed it.

It has the backstop for BFC that they DO NOT have to release him from it unless they are compensated to their satisfaction.

    That's the way it is.

I am somewhat bemused by you're apparent loyalty to a player who is nothing more than a transient employee of the club you supposedly support.

Is it just about money though?

    We don't know do we?
Maybe he wants to win things and have a chance of promotion to the premier league.
Does it look like we can do that?
