So I had neither the time nor the inclination ( truth be told ) to attend yesterday's game . I'm not in a position to comment on yesterday's match , but it's reasonable to assume it wasn't "Just Like Watching Brazil". The comparisons between this season and 2001/02 is somewhat unnerving . Lack of passion , baffling team selections , purchasing of totally inappropriate players . However , the one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the number of times the fans get the blame for the mess we're in . Sorry , but from a personal point of view , that simply doesn't wash . People are charged a lot of money to attend matches and , once they've paid their cash , they're entitled to their opinion . In all walks of life , if you do not think you're getting value for YOUR money , then it's your right to complain about the lack of service . If you're regularly being supplied with a service you feel is not worth the price you're paying at a restaurant , cinema , garage , theatre , holiday destination etc ., then you firstly complain and follow it up by removing your custom . I fear that there are a great number of fans presently attending Oakwell who , in the very near future , will withdraw their money and support for the club . Barnsley FC can ill afford to lose this following . Neither does it do any good for the remaining supporters to say 'good riddance' to these people . The club needs all the fans it can bring in and is certainly not in a postion to turn away paying customers . Poor quality football and players giving the impression that they're not 100% committed to the cause will always cause unrest amongst the faithful . If it persists , then there's a good chance that customer will eventually find something else to spend his/her money on . As is their right . The only loser in all this is Barnsley Football Club .
I agree with most of that, but I still think boo'ing the team after 3 minutes is out of order, as is jeering players when they are substituted.
So would I However , I also think it's bang out of order when the players get fantastic backing in a local derby against Sheffield Wednesday and then turn in a pathetic , insipid and gutless performance . The players can't have it both ways .
well mate.. its ripped the guts from meafter yesterday...next season...no way will a ST be bought and many many more are thinking on the same lines as me and as you have intimated in your post..simply put a large portion of the fans have just had a gutfull of this lukewarm ***** they are giving us at Oak..... sorry Jokewell
RE: well mate.. its ripped the guts from meafter yesterday...next season...no way will a ST be bough I have withdrawn my attendence until the management from the top changes. To be honest im getting used to it.
RE: well mate.. its ripped the guts from meafter yesterday...next season...no way will a ST be bough that's fair enough, but you shouldn't comment on the quality of the play if you're not at the game. Comments over the running of the club I've no problem with as that is a general opinion but specifics relating to a game should be the preserve of the attendees. I can't comment on Luton away which I understand was good but I can comment on the home games as I was there. I won't be able to comment on any games next season though !!!

RE: well mate.. its ripped the guts from meafter yesterday...next season...no way will a ST be bough It's that what worries me. The poor standard of football displayed alately is putting people off attending and will no doubt cause a slump in season ticket sales for the next season. That in itself means less income, which means less cash to splash, which means a miserable merry-go-round again.
:'( :'( :'(

It was desperate under Parkin when we went down , but we stuck around the 4,500-5000 mark I think. The same fans will go again next season no matter what division weare in.
RE: It was desperate under Parkin when we went down , but we stuck around the 4,500-5000 mark I thin Aye, suckers for punishment
RE: well mate.. its ripped the guts from meafter yesterday...next season...no way will a ST be bough spot on cazi, 32 years of going a mixture ofpain and joy, but no more. I hate what has happened at MY club this year and when this year's ticket runs out that's it. (Cue all the part timer calls but I don't care) Lucky to have a club ? I'll call the bluff, put a fecking tescos on it, see how long it takes us to forget)
Not necessarily. Most of those 4500 - 5000 were the fans who have watched Barnsley for years, the ones who are now voting with their feet and leaving early or not even going despite holding Season Tickets. Some will renew their tickets, others will choose which matches to go to and the rest will stay home.
I'm at a point where It's just not worth the hassle it causes. Took my eldest daughter yesterday - she came home sobbing - bored, disappointed, cold. I won't be taking her again. As for me, in 30 years I've watched them thru' thick & thin, but I've got to the point that it unjustifyably just takes up too much of my life that I could be spending with my kids. The adjustments that have to be made by my family to allow me to go to the games just don't seem worth it anymore.
That's what Kev's been saying lately. He's working long hours so we don't see much of him and then goes to football and comes home moody/depressed so what we do see of him we'd rather not. He's said that it's not fair on us for him to be so grumpy. Things have seriously got to alter (on the pitch) for him to renew his season ticket.
The good thing about yesterday Was that I saw it thru someone elses eyes. I stopped feeling bad about BFC, or me - I just felt guilty for inflicting it on her. The only other thing is that I don't think she has actually started to "care" that much for the club, so maybe it's a blessing in disguise. As for me I can't believe I'm even thinking it, but I just might not bother next year. It's not the money so much, it's the time.
