... but my immediate priority isn't a centre half - my list would be as follows:

    (1) A chairman
    (2) A right back
    (3) A left back
    (4) A centre half

Fair enough - Kay was pretty awful last night, but the number of times they got down the sides of us last night was just ridiculous.

R Williams: Slow, cart-horse, not interested ... runs like a 12 stone 4 year old girl.
N Austin: Slow, lost, liability, no talent ... looks like Worzel Gummage.

Paddy may one day get his wish that 11 home grown players will pull on the famous red shirt.
Unfortunately it will be in front of 31 people, 4 dogs & a few pigeons in the Ovaltine Deaconoid Sunday League (division 7).

Both of those two would do better in a back 3, or in R Williams case, as a wing back.

Then again I don't get paid £40k to give people the day off.

I'll tell you where Neil Austin would look best - selling lighters down on the market.
His performance last night was one of the worst I've ever seen ... and I wholeheartedly mean that.

    Two new full backs required.
At a stretch - we could possibly manage with the centre halves we have.

Mark my words ... Rio & Sol would struggle with those two Deacons either side of them.

    i agree and disagree

I think that dale tonge is a good enough right back if he is played, as for the rest, you're spot on.</p>

    another astute person

just because they came through our academy doesn't mean they are any good-I'd rather we had Allardyce's non-english all sorts if they showed some fight and determination-with just a little bit of basic footballing knowledge-like pass to someone in the same colour shirt!

    RE: another astute person

The majority of the team have suddenly lost their form for some reason,is there trouble behind the scenes?is AR proving too weak?Robbie and Austin were playing well not so long ago,Paul Hayes to me had also looked potentially a very good striker, he too has suddenly lost his form and looks only half the player he was, why?

confidence definitely comes into it-see the threads re clean sheets-we seem to go to pieces once we concede-if we keep a clean sheet we are fine

Williams looked lean after pre-season but has put the weight back on

I don't think he played that badly, although I totally agree about Robbie Williams. Just how has he got so bad?

Austin has been pants all season ,

And he has been even worse when played at left-back , completely all at sea.

He does make up for it though by fouling constantly to prove he has "heart" and is "up for it"
