I'm loathed to be negative about BFC, however...

The Colgan story has broken the camel's back.

We were PROMOTED last season, yes, promoted. Yet despite that players want to leave - McPhail, apparently Nicky now. Others have taken ages to sign, with only Reidy apparently signing straight away more or less.

We have missed out on two players we wanted, one to an average team in the division below. Our first eleven is still a good side and were they all to stay fit and play every game next season, we'd probably be ok. However, we have no depth of quality in any department as it stands now.

Maybe we have players lined up to sign on Friday/Saturday when contracts expire - let's hope so. However, it would seem strange that we announced we'd offered a deal to Foster if we've offered deals to others.

What's frustrating really is that we were told to expect 'box-office' players which got all our hopes up... now this seems like a pipedream. If we were so badly off that we couldn't afford anyone at all, so be it, we'll have to make do, but to suggest that some top quality players would come in increases expectations amongst supporters.

Hey, we might go and sign five quality players before the new season, in which case I retract this post, but judging by rejections from two non 'box-office' names and the reluctance of current players to sign, this seems to be no more than a dream.

However, I still have faith in Mr Shepherd and Andy to ensure we do enough to stay in the Championship next sesson.

It was PC who mentioned box office players, not GS.

Also wasn't Colgans last contract dealt with by P Riddy ?

If so might it have been a little over the top ?

I know it was PC... I never said it was GS or AR did I?

They're all part of the club's decision making.

Sorry, I know you didn't, but a certain other poster suggested that GS may start getting stick for PC's box office statement. At the time I thought him wrong but hmmmm........ Over to you Redstar !!!

    Au contraire

The correct word is 'loath', or its variant spelling 'loth'. 'Loathe' is the verbal form.

    fecking have that.

Besides, he was correct in one sense. He IS loathed.

    Weather forecasters are the best

Particularly the effeminate one on BBC News 24.

"And woosh, the weather front will come in from the Atlantic, it will be chilly….brrrr"

    Were we?

I thought we were told that money would be there if a 'box office player' became available ... not to expect box office signings.

    RE: Were we?

That's what I thought as well.

And it was PC making the money available for transfers, so not much chance of us being able to match their wage demands then!

    RE: What's the difference?

    1) Money there if they become available = when a 'top target' is obtainable the cash is there to make a move.

    2) To 'expect' box office signings suggests that the box office players are lined up and ready to come.

I'm guessing that you weren't being serious in asking that question ...
