I'm not argueing the rights and wrongs of your politics

I'm just saying you should be able to voice you opinion without being abused by board members, you've as much right to be wrong as they have to be right and vice versa

 

not enough people have their own opinions these days, everyone is so connected and the media is so influential that a lot of people are drones to society and have their opinions made for them.

 

You're entitled to your opinion as long as it is the same as mine - the mantra of the left.

 

They're also brainwashed at school and university by left-wing teachers and lecturers.

 

There are plenty who were brain washed by Right Wing Teachers too, and also by Lecturers in Universities.

 

My degrees in politics my dissertation supervisor was, at the time, Britain's foremost right wing academic and when I did my masters in Political Relations again my lecturers were predominantly right of centre. It's the time old argument to think university lecturers are lefties it's the same drivel that they spout about the BBC being left leaning when it gives a balanced view.

the thing I hate most in Barnsley politics( and places like it) is " my father voted labour and his dad did so if its good enough for them then its good enough for me.................... YOU THICK IGNORANT WNAKERS, they had world wars, rickets, and polio are they good enough for you as well, make your own choice on the issues of today not yesteryear and if its still labour then fine??????. there's different things I agree with that most of the parties say, so I just pick the one I feel strongly about at that time

 

I totally agree with you Trev, old mate. But it has to be a two way street. It seems somewhat pointless & hypocritical to voice an opinion on these issues, demand the right to air them without personal abuse being received, yet see nothing wrong by ridiculing and dishing out the verbals against someone who then thinks differently.
I have my own political views and am capable of reaching them by myself. They are similar to my late Father's, but so what? That doesn't mean they're less valid. I'm intelligent enough to evaluate & consider all relevant aspects before reaching my own conclusions and see that trait in everyone else. If someone doesn't share my opinions, fair enough. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that at all. But I'm not going to call into question their competence and capabilities to establish their viewpoints, simply because they differ from mine. Nor would I claim to be some kind of visionary, capable of seeing through real or imagined lies and propaganda that other mere mortals are too ignorant to recognise.

 

I've never heard anyone say that regarding why they vote Labour - I have, however, seen many people say that about folk who vote Labour without actually bothering to ask people why they vote Labour.

I never actually knew how my father voted.

 

It's a discussion forum, if you post something up, you are posting up for discussion. So if people disagree with an opinion they are as free to voice that disagreement as the person who posted their opinion.
I've never told anyone to shut up on here, but if I disagree with something then I'll say so.

 

yes but to say I think you're wrong and I disagree with you is ok but to say if you don't agree with me then you're a lovely person is so wrong. and I've heard people say if it was good enough etc,etc
