Industrial action by non-union members Non-union members who take part in legal, official industrial action have the same rights as union members not to be dismissed as a result of taking action. https://www.gov.uk/industrial-action-strikes/your-employment-rights-during-industrial-action
Cheers mate. I take it as gospel that is true then as it is the government site? I just need to make double, triple sure that I'm ok to do this without getting disciplined.
It's a legal officially balloted strike so I see no reason why not. Perhaps join a union to safeguard? Currently awaiting the results over here in Wales to find out if NHS staff here will be striking I reckon they will be too.
Yes I did mate, plenty did too, very well supported in Town and drivers showed a lot of support too honking their horns. Poor neighbours though.
Isn't that referring only to people who work for organisations who's employees are in the union taking industrial action? So today anyone working for an organisation related to the nhs (or other unions who are lending their support). Whereas if you work in a high street bakery (who have no union representation) and decided to go out on strike today you could be subject to disciplinary proceedings as it would be a breach of contract?
Should have been on strike today but it was called off after an improved pay offer for local government. Its actually a decent offer for those on the lowest pay (as it should be). We will be balloted on that now.
