I'm really looking forward to David Flitcroft's transfer dealings this Summer

During the season, he targeted players he felt would buy into his ethics of team spirit and togetherness within his set up. Hopefully, he'll be successful in not only landing his targets, but also keeping the current squad together. This would include both the players out of contract who he wants to retain and the lads who are signed up, but might be attracting attention from other clubs.
I believe we'll bring in no more than five players, assuming the lads who are out of contract all re sign and there are no out going sales (eg, Perkins, Mellis).

You sure he's our new manager ?

What with no press conference and that ?

    I feel the same.

I'm curious to see what he'll do with some of the young kids and if he'll bring them through a little more. From the little I've seen of Digby, if he can get over his growing pains, he's an incredible prospect. I was impressed with Jones too and Rose noticeably improved too. And obviously RNL. Pity Clark and Silva didn't make more strides. But for the first time in a good while (maybe the Eaden, Moses, Watson, Liddell period) we've a chance of home grown talent with the potential to form a nucleus of a side.

I was looking at the squad (and second guessing a good amount) and I'd be inclined to say just 3 signings (if everyone signs up... not that I expect them to).

If we can find room for an attacking player with pace, a bit of x factor and someone who can run with the ball and beat a man, I think we look a very decent side.

I'd be looking for a captain type centre half which gives us lots of options on formation whether a flat back 4 or a 3 and then I think it's safe to say a striker, with O'Grady probably being the first one on the list.

I think Barnsley Sport and Football on facebook should look into this.

I'm making a giant leap of faith, old mate

I'm looking forward to the new season more than any other since we won promotion and I'm usually a rose tinted specs wearing optimist. Perhaps it's about time I matured and acted my age. Crystal & Laura certainly think so!

Well if and it's a big IF he has a rethink and signs up, I am intrigued to see how he manages a 46 game season from a level start with everyone else. Managing a firefight and getting players wound up for a battle when we need to win at all costs is a different game to a full season. Can we play with the intensity we did from Jan all the way through ? If we can then who knows what could happen.

    As with most

I hope we can bring O'Grady in on a permanent basis, along with, possibly, a couple of experienced central defenders. Another striker and a winger would make up my five incomings. As I said previously, this is assuming we keep our out of contract players and we don't sell anyone. The young lads coming through from the Academy who you mention should help to both the quantity & quality of the first team squad, without the club running up outlandish costs.

    I think the manager

Can adapt and adjust the style, not only over the whole season, but during individual matches. He's earned, in my opinion, the right to put his ideas and plans to the test next season.

One thing I would like to see this season is a smaller but better squad and much less reliance on short term loans. I'm guessing we've used close to 40 players this season and that's far too many.

You know all the Big Lils have always held you in the highest esteem and have the greatest affection for you.
But it's obvious you still want David Flitcroft sacked. Oh yes.

Dont get too attached to the young uns. If they show the slightest bit of promise and form the club will cash in a la Stones.

What is the point of the academy and home grown players if we aint going to fetch them thru and play them because we are scared they will get injured!?? They may as well just take the pot of cash for the academy down to Napoleons and put it on black... if we get a winner we are quids in.. If not we have another go next year.

I want to see changes in this area this season and fend off bids for our players.
