Some comments about the Cardiff match

    Steele did ok.
The back 4 was a shambles.........Foster definitly aint a full back. There goal stemed from the Foster position. The central defenders were being pulled out wide throughout the match because Kozluc and especially Foster were being beat repeatedly.
Midfield did well. Howard ran his blood to water without really causeing much of a threat. The two wingers did well especially JCR in the second half. Colace had a decent match put I don't like his running in front of the ball, he needs to just sit there in midfield as McPhail was doing for Cardiff.

    As for the forward line...........forget it..........we haven't got a forward line !!!
We MUST get strikers in that can do the business because we had so much of the ball against Cardiff but we never looked like scoring.
I posted the following on the 1st August............
And like I said then - the team is generally ok but if we dont change the strikers we are going to struggle

    Match Day Report
    Barnsley v ************

Barnsley totally dominated the first period of the match. Chances came and went and Barnsley on several occasions were unlucky not to take the lead. On 21 minutes the visitors had a break away and scored against the run of play. Barnsley again pressed forward after the break but the defence of ************* stood firm. On the hour several attempts by Barnsley went begging. One attempt roled across the goal mouth and only needed a touch but unfortunatly no Barnsley player was in 10 metres of the ball. The visitors went close twice in the second half but the majority of play again fell to Barnsley.
At the final whistle Simon Davey said his team had given everything but had been unlucky in front of goal

    Final Score
    Barnsley 0 - 1 ****************

For ************* put in any team in the Championship

more insteresting is thinking that JCR looked better in the second half than the first

I thought for the first 20 minutes he made our side until he was booked and then he gave up like the rest of them

Could it be that Moore is a jinx, Derby lost quite a few games when he was at the elm, and now poor old Barnsley are going down the same road. The defence is poor, bring back Nyatanga, put De Silva in midfield with Howard when he is fit and Devaney and JCR on the wings. Bring back Van Homoet for his pace and Macken and Hume up front. Most importantly bring in a Quality striker on loan, some kid who is willing to run his blood to water and who has an abundance of strenth and pace. Finally Sack our fitness coach and bring in the guy who trains Cardiff city, only then we may still have a chance.
