but only the result. I thought we played well. They are very physical and we coped well. We were well in the ascendancy when they scored. My mate who supports Spurs and came along with me said to me about 2 mins before they scored - "its coming, there's only one team in it" (how wrong he was!). They got on top after they scored and looking back the highlights, it was a terrible goal to concede. However, we can't get too downbeat - on another day we would have won quite easily. We're not going to win every game between now and Huddersfield and therefore whether we survive or not will, in my view, very much depend on how we respond to setback. I have complete faith that Flicker will be able to motivate and these lads are able to self-motivate - they have shown that over the last 3 months. I think we can do it - we need to hang on in there until the home games v Derby and Charlton - the landscape will look very different by then, with a couple of clubs well and truly dragged into it, Huddersfield and Blackpool looking likely candidates at the moment. Continue to work hard with the spirit we have shown since January and we will be in the Championship next season. I think it will be tricky for those teams like Blackpool that are suddenly pulled in and fighting against the tide. You reds.
I am really fed up with losing to the worst team I have seen in this league for years. Six points they have taken off us and they could make a lot of difference.
Very true Tomfun, it's hard after losing to that lot but we've got to stay positive; our destiny is still in our own hands.
Grow up They play a different style (stoke) and it is effective , we cannot cope with it Reading play attractive football - they are going down Stoke are not
It always happens with the Wendy's at Home and away. It's been like that for years. It is a bloody jinx . No matter how we are playing, like yesterday, you just know they are going to fluke a goal against the run of play. The ref did not help, some of their rough tactics went unneeded. The penalty was not a penalty it was ball onto chest,
Ironically, we coped with it all afternoon, they scored the first time they got the ball on the deck and in behind us.
Absolutely correct. Yesterday's game is only going to be pivotal to our season if we allow it to be. Put into context, it's our fourth defeat this year. As long as we banish it to the back of our minds and get playing again we'll be fine. Tomorrow's game is vital as much from a psychological point of view as anything else. A defeat is not going to maroon us, and we have plenty more points to play for after that. I just have a nagging feeling that if we lose and other results go against us we might start running out of steam as Bristol City seem to have done. Then again we lost two on the spin at the start of the month, and bounced back with seven points from three very tough looking games. Still all to play for.
What is immature about being fed up with losing (again) to a rival and poor side to boot. Did you even go yesterday?
I agree, the Leicester game is a big game and with it being at home is probably bigger than yesterday's game. A win will 'hopefully' bring us back out of the drop zone but a loss could be a very painful one. We can't afford to see a gap, however small, opening up.
MrX has a valid point.......we cannot cope with physical teams and anybody with any football sense knew this before we kicked off against Owls. Dave Jones also knew this and played a team to out-muscle us. Think we will stay up.........but BFC must buy one, if not two proper big physical centre halves.......we have a soft centre to our team and we have to accept our weakness and act on it (which we haven't done since Darren Moore left......not the best footballer I have seen, but did his job very well and had a big heart that rubbed off on rest of team).
He has a point that they play long ball and it is up to us to deal with it and not complain - it is a style of play and is just as valid as any other style. However, I did think we coped with it very well. Their goal game from a decent move. Probably their first or second of the game.
If you went to a match yesterday, which one was it. It could not have been our match because we out played them most of match. Our defence played well and do not need criticism of your nature
