With no goal scoring strikers and a terrible defence we won’t be back in the playoffs this season

 

We couldn’t attract decent players / willing to sign decent players when we were top six. Imagine what this summer is gonna look like. Awful times at Oakwell. We’re gonna be the new Charlton. In this league for a very long time, crowds shrinking and not a pot to piss in.

 

We've gone from having a four point safety cushion in the play off positions to being six points adrift.

Lose on Saturday and we could actually drop out of the top half of the table.

Clarke needs to get a hold of the team/squad and get them playing the attacking, front-foot game he promised. There's enough talent in there to match all but Birmingham (who we almost did match!) and beat most.

Genuinely think Saturday is make or break. Lose and the season is effectively over. Win and kick start some form and we might have a chance of the play offs. Sadly, I'm not holding out too much hope based on recent performances and the way we handed Huddersfield the games at their place.

 

6 points and a game in hand behind Huddersfield, if they beat us at the weekend, will you still think the seasons not over?!?

 

To be honest the summer could be good get players like Benson, Cosgrove, Humphrys, pines off the books build but I'm not holding my breath. Tough few years to come. Took Sheffield United and Sunderland 6 seasons to get out of this league Charlton have been here years. And it looks like it's getting harder to get out of. More chance of dropping league 2 longer we stay.

 

I’ve not been paying a lot of attention to the table the last few weeks.

That’s quite a fall. And obviously our goal difference is poor too.

A game like Huddersfield at home would be the sort of game that would get us going again after a poor trot.

A defeat and we’ve only a slim outside chance of the playoffs with games fast running out.

 

Season was over once the transfer window shut and the lack of any decent players tbh.

 

I struggle to see this talent in our squad you talk about, yeah our midfield has got plenty of decent passers of the ball when teams sit off us and Phillips and DKD would get in most squads but it’s irrelevant when you are so poor in defence and attack.

 

It will be tough.

 

If we can’t get our season back on track with the two up coming Yorkshire derbies then that’s when we should start questioning Clarkes future.
