Which Sheffield team are officially the pigs? They both seem to think it's the other - bit confused like
Blades are the pigs according to Wednesday as bacon is red and white. Owls are the pigs cos when bacon goes rancid it goes blue and white.......that and the fact they are all tw@ts
The Wednesday ground is built on the site of a former Piggery. I've seen the old maps which a Blunt mate of mine had.
I thought that it had been proven that those maps were actually produced by Blades fans and there was never a piggery near either ground ? I could be wrong though !
No I think you are right. I've done a bit of research on a Sheffield local history group web site and the area was described as a Dandilion field. No mention of a Piggery. I'll shoot that blunt pillock when I see him.
I had heard again it should be Wednesday for similar reasons being the pig farm - again I have no proof but here is the story I heard. From a guy in London who has some vague connection to Sheffield FC. It's not Hillsboro thats' built on a pig farm but a former ground and before Wednesday moved to Owlerton they called themselves the pigs and were proud to do so, only changing their nickname to the owls when they moved to Owlerton. It could well be that it was the Sheaf House ground - which is very close to Bramhall lane - hence the confusions as to who is / are the pigs. I'm not saying it's right. I'm just saying what I heard. Or they could just be big kids
Definitely Wednesday. I've never referred to the blunts as the pigs. They've a always been the blunts!
How about we just call them the blades and the owls whilst they can call us the tykes or try super reds?! I hate all that forced name calling, especially when it's all balls and we don't know why we call em it. Mind, I suppose they're a bit more relevant than "the dingles" just because it kind of rhymes with dee dah. I mean that really is a lack of imagination.
