I think we get stuck thinking about the same old revenue streams (mainly meaning the same old fans) and like many on here hope to see some innovation from the club.

    Here's my first suggestion then.

We should be looking for a pair of players from China or Indonesia.
They must be out there waiting to be found, and since we have one of the lowest gates in the division I think our continued survival at this level will take a bit of bravery. We have to try something different.

We have to be careful not to displace academy players, so maybe we could be looking for someone older and better known (to their current fan base). Im guessing that if we made an offer for them to come as a pair they're more likely to be attracted to little old Barnsley.

We might then start to generate revenue from an entirely different set of fans.

Ready to be shot down ;-)

I say we have a Brazilian themed day at Oakwell, as in, "it's just like watching Brazil" not the shaving form!

Samba dancers, the lot to see us thrash another Championship team. It's probably a **** idea really.

That big screen that was supposed to be installed 9 months ago would be a start - not everyone's cup of tea but you start selling advertising to local businesses at a few hundred quid for a few slots and the club are laughing.

It strikes me that the club wanna do a delboy and Rodney with their cross cancelling equations. (If you can remember that scene)

Anything that requires investment up front is mostly outsourced or in their eyes not worthy.

Although the scoreboard was supposed to pay for itself after 10 years. So its not going to be a big revenue puller.

There are some fantastic ideas banded about on here but ive yet to see any fan suggestions taken seriously

We should get a player from China with that religious connection with Barnsley going on.

there are also 6000 wealthy Chinese students in Sheffield, another ready made fan base to steal.

And build a massive bookies, the missing links love gambling

And maybe a zoo with pandas, I like pandas

We could do with a few Polish players, and one or two friendly's with polish teams. some polish hot dogs & larger at half time as well as programs in polish in which could be a message if you enjoy today's game why not come along to Barnsley league games along with the season ticket prices.

We should set up a few friendly matches against a few random foreign teams, try and forge a few links. I'm surprised we've not had Royal Antwerp at Oakwell in recent years to be honest.

    Even Better

North Koreans. I remember being really impressed with a few of their team when they last played in the world cup, and I've heard somewhere or other that they're quite a fanatical nation.

Can't see that backfiring at all.

The friendly against Polish sides is actually a good idea. Target the (old and new) Polish communities in the area. Also, how about Bulgaria and Romania seeing as the borders are open(ing soon). Might as well expand our horizons.

Eastern European players might be persuaded to come over on our budget too :)
