...a team severely lacking in confidence has won one and drawn two from the last 3 home games. We seem to have players in Pedersen & McCourt that can create for us and we're starting to seem dangerous in spells but not for full games yet. We still need to cut out the mistakes at the back - MVoto especially (I know he played well but then lost his concentration for their goal playing him on) - but we're getting there. The start is to get results, not performances. Hopefully it's coming now.
I think that's what's been most frustrating So many of our problems appear self inflicted. Whether they be through individual mistakes, baffling player selections, tactics, the players heads dropping when things aren't going to plan (eg. Wigan, Blackburn, Watford). All these can be rectified by the present set up without major surgery being inflicted on the club.
you make good points and am sure most of us would have taken 5 points considering our position. The worrying thing is it could and possibly should have been 9, but could just so easily have been 2. I dont know if its fitness, confidence or simply flicker being found out but the league table doesnt lie and things need to change sharpish or we will have to excede last seasons escape act just to survive again
or second half form/tactics .... First half at home we are starting to get our act together so 25% of the way there
Aye we appear to be an all out 45 minute team at the mo and then turn into Klingons for the remainder.
At least we know we can play a lot better, most of these same players were playing brilliantly just a few months ago. If I hadn't witnessed it myself then I'd be worried that current form is the best we can hope for but I know that's not the case. A big part of it is Flitcroft's tactics though, it's seem once we reach the hour mark we just aren't in the game and it's a case of hanging on.
My concern in a nutshell. Jacob Mellis wide left consistently = relegation and a waste of his talents that were 'Premiership class' a few months ago.
He's not a winger Phil. How many crosses did he put in? How many times did he go past them on the left? I can't imagine how f.cked off Cywka/O'Brien/Jennings/Lazarus are. And I bet Mellis is as well.
Is that how you judge a winger than? Vaz Te played wide left too for Barsnley and didn't cross the ball a lot. You can't play 442 and have two out and out wingers against teams at home or away because teams will play 4231 and just control the middle of the pitch and keep the ball. I don't think we can get the best from our midfield until with a 4.
Hanging on because he takes off the players who are either able to dictate from midfield, or/and worry the opposition. Whilst leaving a couple of others on who fade into obscurity. Take Mellis, Paddy and Pedersen off. Replace with unfit and un-dangerous players. Leaves TK, Fox and Perkins on who offer no threat and switch off after an hour. Thems the things I've spotted in the last few games. But no, I'm told Mellis is a passenger. Aye, and it's just a coincidence that we lose midfield and drop deep as **** once he departs, and then TK/Fox/Perkins/Cranie/M'Voto or whoever switch off and we concede. Taking Pedersen off is as barmy as it gets, too.
