this year played 19 - 30 points 1999-2000 played 19 - 34 points - finished with 82 points 1996-1997 played 19 - 34 points - finished with 80 points Still got a bit of catching up to do, but just like those two seasons, we are picking up points even when we are not playing to the standard we know we can achieve.
same but i think we need a new upfront....i mean ok we are winnin but have you noticed how many goals our midfield has scored
RE: as long as someone is scoring Yep agreed tyketastic whats to worry about goals were scoring them arent we. Doesnt bother me who scores them
We weren't successful in 2000 because we lost in the Play Off Final! Granted the success was there in getting to the final, but we still lost.
but int that why the current midfield were brought in. werent they classed as goal scoreing midfield players.
RE: As the Yanks would say though Funny that, I thought we were British! A winning/successful season surely is determined by actually having some success i.e. promotion, not nearly getting promoted. Our last successful season was when we were promoted to the then named FA Carling Premiership.
just as a note on that........ in 1996 - 97 we got 80 points whereas in 1999-2000 we got 82 (EIGHTY TWO) points. So in terms of points 1999-2000 was a more succesful year, unfortunately Charlton, Man City and Ipswich had even better seasons and all got more points.
Surely that depends If, for instance, the season after you get promoted you say your aim is to avoid relegation and you do that, that is a successful season. Similarly if you say you are aiming for a top 6 finish and you get in the playoffs, it's a successful season. I agree - ultimately in 2000, we failed (in achieving promotion) but I think most people would say that we had a successful season
