It was not his decision to appoint Davey, he wanted experience and even went so far as to "testing the water" for a Wilson return via activity with the Chronicle.. It was Shepherd he wanted davey mainly to balance the books and anything else was a bonus. what we forget, or some dont know is that the board had planned on BFC being relegated , but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and unfortunately Daveys overall management is now coming out and the club will suffer because of it

    No according to Patrick Cryne.

Not according to Patrick Cryne - when SD was interviewed for the job by PC he almost didn't want SD to impress because of the inevitible accusations that he was a cheap option. PC has always disputed this. SD was given the job because PC, GS et al thought he was the best man for the job.

    Other way round wasn't it?

I heard that PC put the pressure on shepherd to get rid of ritchie against his wishes and then again used his influence to put SD in charge.

Only what I heard though so take it with a pinch of salt.

RE: Other way round wasn't it?

PC got in touch with Andrew Lodge at the Chronicle to try and gage public feeling about bringing Wilson back to BFC , this can be confirmed via the Chronicle.
The viws coming back to PC from cooments and phone calls to the chronicle were enough for PC to realize that the amount of fans who would not want Wilson back would cause to much of a split.
I know i will get slated for this but the above are FACTS and i would happily ask any one to confirm this with Andrew Lodge.

I believe PC interviewed SD on Gordon Shepherd's and Barry Taylor's recommendation.

From memories of a conversation with Gordon, I believe they were all in favour of removing AR but I think Gordon's support for AR lasted the longest.

It still annoys me that Barry taylor has anything to do with the running of the club

He's been on more dodgy boards than a termite

If cryne sounded out the chron about Wilson coming back but decided too many fans were against it then why did he think Simple Simon would be wanted....?
