Would it be acceptable to do your best and fail?

Most employers would manage someone out of the business if they weren't performing regardless of how much effort an individual claims to put in.

That's why the majority of them won't be Barnsley player next season when we're in the "pop and crisps" league.

Depends if they sack you but you can prove they didn't give you the right budget to buy the tools to do your job to the standard they were expecting there a decent lawyer would get you a good pay out

The manager agreed wi thi ont Perkins one but seems to like Dawson, so is this a go at Wilson or just another go at Dawson or both.

Becoming a bit boring to be honest James, tha so much better than daily pops at a single individual.

Depends. In this "workplace" you talk of would they happen to have signed a contract for a specific length of time. And assuming they haven't breached the contract through gross misconduct I think you'll find employment law would make it very difficult to sack them.

It's hard enough to sack someone who isn't performing and isn't trying without paying them off in the business world.

You do understand the basic principles of contracts don't you?

I'm not asking for them to be sacked. How many players do you see sacked in a season? One or two at the most.

It's just unfortunate that people accept inadequate performances if they believe there is some level of effort but they would never stand for it their own workplace.

You're probably right. My fears of impending doom are affecting my composure.

I like you, James. But you are getting a bit Hemsworth with all this.

I do agree with you though, that were I to be **** at my job I'd be sacked.

    But it's football and it's ****** up.

I don't see your point football has a league system do you sack every player in the bottom half for not having enough skill?

Every season teams get relegated due to being inadequate it's happened for a number of years.

If you run a micropub next to a Wetherspoons do you expect to get sacked for not selling as much ale as them? Or do you expect to be rewarded for doing as well as you can with your thirty seats?

In most places I've worked, performing at an incompetent level repeatedly usually results in promotion to a role where they can't do any more damage to the business. Unfortunately, I don't think a football team with our budget can sustain 10 managers...

They'd last longer than somebody who put in zero effort and couldn't give a flying fig if the business vwent down the pan or not.

Do you realise how ridiculous you sound with this? Do you genuinely believe people want to constantly listen to your pathological dislike for Stephen Dawson?
