"He can be a Premier League player if he continues to improve." What am I bid for Mr Luke Steele? This club is.......................................
What he should have said if that was the case is that Luke is ready to play for a premier league club now.
.........doing a lot better than I wanted them to do, but I have made my negative bed and now I must lie in it. Clearly Mr Kaht is struggling to find anything erroneous this week, and is indeed clutching... Where were you tuesday, wednesday?? Oh yeah, we won didnt we... silly me!
i would like your honest opinion on this orsenkaht, would you prefer barnsley fc to have no players at all within a sniff of the premiership
Only1kp, the answer clearly has to be no - I would not prefer that. However........... I've been watching this club for an awful long time - on and off. There are many who've been watching them longer than me. Always, always, when we get a good player we end up selling them. The difference at the moment is that the club now has a brazenly-stated aim to sell on what they describe as our 'realisable assets'. So, as we know, Butterfield is now being watched closely. I'm deeply sceptical about why he has been made captain. His England U21 callup is adding to the fuss, and soon he'll be gone. Hill's comments about Steele in the Chron yesterday are bound to raise suspicions that we are now open to offers for him. Yes - Hill appears to have an eye for a replacement player who can perform at a higher level. Thing is - when they do, they'll be off too! Therefore, there is no sense that anything worthwhile or lasting is being built at Oakwell. What do we want from this club? For me, it's: 1) Good entertainment at a reasonable price. I reckon I got that on about 4 or 5 occasions last season. Not enough - in my view - to renew my ST. If I'd wanted to join a '1966-67 Club' (or whatever it is) I'd have renewed my ST. £30 a game, whilst certainly not unaffordable, is enough to deter me from being a casual attender. 2) In an ideal world, some progression, and at least a hope that eventually, we might threaten a playoff position. Let's be right - the team have done better than I expected this season, but if we do threaten this type of progress, we will clearly undermine our own efforts by cashing in our better players. Now then, to return to a familiar theme, what progress have we made since our return to the Championship? We're 18th, and six points above the drop zone. But we've had similar starts in some of those previous five seasons. Offloading our better players is not just a fear now - it's a stated aim of the club. So expect us to level out and maybe just about avoid relegation. We're on our fourth manager in a little over 5 years, and the gates are falling steadily. We have an absentee owner from whom we rarely hear, and a one-man Board with a lack of any vision, other than survival. A bit like Scunthorpe, innit? I'm not saying my view is right about any of this - I'm just saying that is the impression I'm getting, as a "critical friend" of the club. The way the club is going at the moment is slowly eroding my feeling of engagement with it. To judge by the gates, I'm not on my own. So what are they going to do about it?
Without a benefactor or another 5k on the gate every week.....and with a reported annual out-goings of 6 mil....its the only way the club..can or will survive But I also think that this can or will also be short term...because if Mr Hill is successful at his ( get on a free or cheap and sell high) strategy...nearly ever club in the country will want him.....if he's not successful...he will walk or get pushed.. PS success is gaged on us being able to stay and compete in the championship....as opposed to relegation....
