I can't remember any other manager getting the same level of unwarranted stick that Collins does.

I think he has done a very good job to have us where we are despite last season's back 3 not being here and being without Connell for the first half of the season. I said at the start of the season that I thought for us to have a chance of promotion he couldn't miss more than a handful of games - our midfield is pretty ineffective without him, as Kane and Russell aren't exactly a dynamic pairing.

The main criticism offered of him is that we are apparently dour, despite being the second top scorers averaging 2 goals a game.

I just don't understand it. No doubt if we end up having a successful season and he leaves the people who have been calling for his head will be the first to call him disloyal for leaving.

Agreed mate, we could be bottom half of the table and Collins could be full of charisma and talk the talk and folk would fall over themselves with glee.
Its a results business and were not the finished article but ticking along nicely.

Think we've highest average goals per games away since the 1930's - Duff is part of that obviously but Collins' away record is impressive as well

Suspect it’s mainly because many of the home performances have been pretty poor.

I suspect it’s because he has a wealth of talent at his disposal and we find ourselves 7th. It’s a really poor league this season and I think some (including myself) have higher than usual expectations.

He doesn’t inspire me in interviews but I appreciate that’s not really important. I’m more concerned about the games where things aren’t going to plan and he stands in the touch line, arms folded, not changing anything, not encouraging. Pompey at home was the worst example, that first half is one of the most embarrassing performances I’ve ever seen at oakwell. And he did…….. nothing. We could have been 5 or 6 down at half time.

I could get that squad 7th in this league. We do seem in an upward trajectory at least so fingers crossed we are top 2 come May. And if we are I will be the first to give him credit. But we’ve left ourselves a heck of a lot to do.

But you have to give the guy a chance, I can't remember where it was said but it was stated he was also learning on the Job.
It took Duff 12/15 games to work out he's best formation and best 11, he had a much better squad with more depth
I get what your saying about changing things but I just don't believe he has that many options.
It's also worth noting as much as I hate the formation we play, I believe this directive comes from above, so it's not like he can suddenly go let's play 442 as we've pigeon holed ourselves recruitment wise based on a back 3/5 and have about 3000 wing backs.
Look at the points on the board, 1 defeat in 13 enjoy the ride, we're going to lose a few but probably win alot more

Could get the squad to the 7th, aye, sure you could pal :D. What utter ***** that comment is. Have you ever done any football coaching at any sort of level?
Were 7th in the league, no disputing there's plenty of room for improvement in the playing squad and Collins but it's comments like yours that are embarrassing. Were ticking along nicely, need 2 or 3 additions in January and then hopefully we can put a decent run together in the 2nd half of the season.
Out of interest, what would you be saying if we were mid table or lower, just because apparently you can do so much better...

Remember when you said everyone was entitled to an opinion?

And I said that everyone was entitled to completely take the piss out of your opinion?

This is one of those times.

Are we still blaming the CEO, who has now left the organization, and the board, who have refuted such nonsense, are picking the team?

Where in that post do I even mention a departed CEO ? Or say the board pick the team ? Or do you not remember the board going on record saying we play a certain way throughout the club and recruit to fit that within a model, or is pure coincidence we have 8 players capable of playing wing back.
Didn't once say the board were picking the team I said we recruit to play a certain system that the club so desire

Friday's was the first game I've been able to see in full, but if that performance is indicative then we do not have a wealth of talent at centre back. It was panic stations whenever the ball went into our box. One thing Williams playing in a back three with two out of Helik, Andersen and Solbauer like he has done previously, not the same with this season's squad. Add to that the games that Connell missed early season, then Collins hasn't been dealt a great hand

th in the league starinI have high expectations this season and I think
I too have high expectations this season and I think 7th in the table entering a new year is the perfect launch pad to achieve our goal which is promotion.

Good use of 7th to back up an argument, 1 point of 5th with a game in hand. We could be there with a win today.
