How down right condesending and arrogant, "people like you" does he think fans should not have a opnion and should happily take on board all the bull he throws at us, i am absolutely shocked that he should treat the life blood of OUR club in this demeaning manner, If he has this attitude towards the fans and their concerns but has a "i dont care what other people think syndrome" then you can bet Davey has been well primed fot tonight!!
It's ironic that he was "one of us" no more than say four years ago and presumably knew as much as "people like us" do, then. It's not our club, it's their club and we are just the pillocks that keep the brass coming in. IF MEN
To be honest... I would expect to hear a straight-talking, honest and positive response tonight from Simon Davey. I fully expect you will get the opinion of Simon Davey, not anyone else, and I sincerely hope he comes across well to everyone present (I can`t make it, to my regret). Much as I hated the appointment, particularly its timing, Davey is the man in charge now and I sincerely hope he proves my fears totally unfounded. Its easy to interpret my email to GS as meaning that I am 100% anti-Davey. This is not the case. My issue over the appointment was with the way it was handled by the Board, particularly the fact that he has effectively been denied any `honeymoon period` as a result of the inevitable negativity, making his job even more difficult. Davey needs 100% support from us, despite any reservations we hold, and I sincerely hope he is successful.
Shepherd has no idea how to talk to the fans or get the fans on board. The club's marketing is *****. He can't see the value of establishing a positive rapport with the fan base - he is a basic 'this is how it is, like it or **** off' merchant.
The marketing at Barnsley F.C. is probably the worst in the division. When is it going to change? The vast majority of what Shepherd does isn't wrong - it's the way he puts it across to the fans that get's people angry.
I'd love to see someone actually 'sell' the club to the fans, generate some excitement, rather than justpresume that it doesn'tmatter, and that we can be taken for granted.
