I'd try and buy Jon Parkin.
Hume wouldn't need to head the ball for the rest of his career with JP along side him.
To be honest he's always a handfull.

I agree mate the formula for doing well in the Championship is still a basic one, physical presence up front, set pieces launched into the box, I think Parkin is as effective as any other big strong striker, if he became available, I bet several clubs would be interested, hopefully us.
Plus When dem blades bottle it in the final (again) he'd be a figure of hate from their fans after studding Halford's knacker sack. Reason enough to sign him.
They love him there Well they love as much as every other club he's been at.
It wouldn't be much less I wouldn't have thought.

How long is his contract at Preston? depends on his willingness to move, I think he still has a place in Darfield, might be up for a move back closer to home. Be worth £500k of anyones money.
But like I say... would his perceived lack of fitness fit in at Oakwell? Plus his Woodbines and John Smiths
I thought... he said he'd never come back here after some idiot (possibly Parkin?) said he'd never make it as a footballer and let him go.
It was Steve Parkin... he could not handle Jon's "lifestyle" and tried to batter it out of him. Probably could be a much better player if he was fitter, but still had a decent career of it. So Steve Parkin kicked him out for boozing. And went on to continue boozing with the team himself.
RE: It was Steve Parkin... Who were the Stirling Six - can't remember 'em all? Crookes, Lumsdon, Jones I think.......
