Some would assume this was about Grandfathertyke. And it is true we were gathered together with a third member of the Eminence Grise. However, enjoying the match as we were from our lair on the back row of the ESL, when the rains came, and the crowds retreated under cover, we were joined by two lads of some presence. Amiable they were, and clearly refreshment had been taken. But wait....... one of them had but a purple polo shirt on against the elements, and what was that strangely familiar (very) high forehead? Whilst not wanting to appear rude and eavesdrop, it was difficult not to hear one or two observations about one of Huddersfield's more accomplished players.... an Ex-Red to boot! Could it be true......... yes - it was Whitey himself! Unmistakeable from the photoshoots and PR glossies! And on Row R, seats 73 and 74! We thought about making ourselves known, but decided we were not worthy, and just radiated in the great man's presence! But I thought Jake did OK Whitey - in a poor Huddersfield side, mind. I'd have him back - possibly when we are a league higher than the Terriers next term. As for Cranie......... well that's a different matter!
We were in the presence of greatness today, cos Neil Redfearn was sat in the East Stand Upper with (presumably) his missus.
All this posting on here, ribbing people and you don't even go to matches? ?? Did you order the battery and jump leads then? ?? hth
I think we did have a laugh about whether Digby might have been the one to come off when Hourihane and Bree came on! Seriously though, if you've seen my horseracing tips on here you'd understand why I need to keep a low profile!
Yeah I remember, I'm just glad I wasn't bitching to whitey about losing all my money at the bookies ....well hopefully we will get to have a beer at some point.
