.... and despite all the good reasons why they should not be...
How would it affect the fixtures, which are due out later this week?
For example - If a decision was taken NOW to reinstate them it would mean preparing a list in which one team in each of the two divisions would have to have a rest week.
But, if the decision was madeAFTER the fixtures are released, nearer the start of the season, which is much more likely,it would surely mean all the Championship fixtures with the Blunts would have to be declared as non-events and declared void, andall the Premiership teams would somehow have to have their fixtures changed in order to accommodate a new team.
With the European Championshipscoming up, I really doubt anyone, particularly in the Premwould wear such a farcical situation when the bottom line is not about United being cheated by losing any points. The simple fact is that they failed to obtain enough points from their own games, and another team who did better than them were given a perfectly acceptable alternative punishment to a points deduction.
I'm sure there is a very clever form of words being prepared somewhere, which will once and for all lay their false claims to rest. It just ain't going to happen.

How to fit in the Blunts Premier League fixtures. 1. They are all played midweek 2. On a number of occasions they have to play on Tuesday and Wednesday in the same week.
Can't help but think This is going to have an adverse effect on their start of the season, in the Championship.
RE: Don't you mean "Can't help but hope"?! nt well, yes. I just think its mismanagement chasing the vague hope that they will be let back in. I don't know the full details of it but I imagine that the big four in that league have a great deal of power. The last thing they will want is more games to be played. There isn't really a precedent for fielding a player in such circusmtances either and so I just can not see how they would let them back in. All the uncertainty can't be good for the club and they will end up feeling like they shouldn't be playing the likes of us and scunny come August, which is pretty dangerous for them.
but there shouldn't be an extra team in the league If sheffield united prove themselves correct and show that west ham should have had points deducted (as everybody in the football world knows is correct) then west ham should be in the championship next season.
Far too many little teams have had points deducted for the same crime yet a 'big' favoured team like west ham only get a fine because it might hurt their fans. Well what about rotherham's fans, bostons fans, scarboroughs fans etc.

My personal opinion is that West Ham should have got points deducted. I just don't see on what basis Sheff U can argue it as there is no precedent. I think they should just get on with it as if an appeal fails it will be detrimental to them in the Championship.
There is a precedent isn't there? The player was not signed correctly and played in games earning them x number of points (between the point of signing him and admitting that they hid information), in previous cases where a player not signed correctly/illegally has played the team has had all points earned during those games deducted and if it was a cup game the game has previously been awarded to the opposition team. The FA are just bending over backwards to help out their friends, just like they do with cardiff because they can see the potential for money in wales. Having said that, you're right and sheffield united do have to be careful that they don't damage their coming season by complaining but for the sake of £60m i'd risk it too lol. Interestingly, the FA say they have fined west ham £5m, an alternative way of looking at it is they have awarded them £55m
Oh right, I didn't realise there was a precedent for it happening in league games - do you know what team it was? I knew bury got ejected from the cup for fielding inelligible players. I also remember a student from Southampton uni claiming to be george weahs cousin getting a game for them in the prem, not sure if he was registered?! But he was rubbish.
I can't think who but I do believe that there has been a precedent. Though whether that was FA or FL i'm not sure.
AFC Wimbledon's Jermaine Darlington didn't get international clearance after previously being a Cardiff player. AFC were deducted 18 points, reduced to I think three on appeal. Despite the Blunts having a case, the more they whinge, the funnier it gets.
