In theory the new crop of players should be better than the old crop

We didn't have much money to spend when we brought the old crop in - such as Scowen, Watkins, Roberts, Mawson, Winnall etc.
Some have been cheaper, but the majority of the latest crop of players that Barnsley have bought have cost in the region of £500k to £1million.

We might not have got someone with the silky skills as Conor - although it did take him a long while to get to the player he is now - but we could be seeing the beginning of a team better than the last one.
But clearly it's going to take time.
Exciting and interesting time to be a Barnsley fan.

Baby steps are still steps if they're in the right direction. Can't wait to see these players at the top of their game later in this season or next.

But this lot are learning their trade in a much higher standard division, and have to learn quicker. Let's not be applying any undue pressure or expectations, job's hard enough for them as it is.

Learning their trade in a much higher division also applies to the old crop of players.
What I'm suggesting here - these new players, although from the lower leagues, are considered to be of a higher quality to those that have previously been brought in over the last 18 months.

Old crop - players that might possibly come good over time.
New crop - players that will come good over time.

Yeah but Winnall, Hourihane etc had a year under Danny & Johnson at League 1 to knit together, then a 2nd year together when they got promoted which gave them a sound footing for last year in the Championship

This lot, from essentially the same level are having to cope at Championship level immediately. Massive ask of them & Hecky

I agree nudge and to what we have seen in the home games it is looking promising imo. Talent and bags of potential all over the pitch. The good thing is we have some good young players on 3 year deal's. McCarthy, isgrove,Lindsay,Potts, mcgeehan ect thing is these players are young and mostly inexperienced in the championship I think we will stay up this season and next we will be able to really push on with the majority of the team experienced I the championship and on 2 and 3 year deals. I think now is the time to offer Davies a new deal for me the best keeper we have had in a long time.
