1 spinner might be a mistake... India have gone with 3

Great to win the toss though.

I like these late starts as well

Back to 4am starts next test. Really annoyed because I had a rubbish night's sleep last night so I still feel shattered!

Definitely a gamble but I think I agree with the selection. We've just gone and picked our best team, no point in picking spinners that go at 4 an over and lose control. We can pretty much bank on 40 overs from Broad and Anderson each day going at 2.5rpo which should keep them in check.

This should be a fascinating game, it's got a bit of everything. New stadium, massive crowd, pink ball, day/night, spinning pitch, series nicely poised.

Looks like the ball is doing a bit from first couple of balls so might be right decision.

How long are we going to persevere with Sibley? Maybe he’ll go on to have a good test career but he’s not worth his place yet

It looks very decent conditions for seamers though, let’s hope it does something when we bowl too.

It's becoming clearer and clearer proper opening batsmen have bocome a dying breed in England.

I know size doesn't matter, but that does look a rather long tail.

Think I'd rather have you in the team than Sibley :D We really struggle with openers.

At least Crawley looks like he's trying to get a grip on the game.

It looks like the batsme we have seen so far are unable to pick the leangth. Both tthe wicket and that last ball to JB were so high there is no need at all to be playing at them. Again, the "leave" seems to be a skill that is slowly leaving the game, thanks to the popularity of the shorted formats...

I don't get why Leach and Broad are down to bat after Archer?
