A BARNSLEY man who died taking part in the Great North Run was today named as Michael Jeffery.

Michael, aged 29, of Snape Hill Road, Darfield, collapsed close to the finish of the race on Sunday.
He was taken to a field hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced dead.
His family had been on the course supporting him and were quickly on the scene.
His body was transferred to South Tyneside District Hospital where he was officially identified by his wife later that day.
A South Tyneside coroner's spokesman said an inquest was opened yesterday and Mr Jeffery's body had been officially released so funeral arrangements could be made.
Further tests have been ordered to establish the official cause of death after a post mortem examination held on Monday proved inconclusive.
Once they came back the inquest could be concluded, but it could be some months, she added.
More than 36,000 people including celebrities from the worlds of sport and show business took part in this year's event, which started in Newcastle.
Last year four men died while running the course.
An inquest later found they had died of "inadvertent-over exhaustion".
Thirteen people have died since the event started in 1981.
