Article from an insider with Wilder and the Blunts on deadline day. Absolutely mental!! https://syndication.bleacherreport....hris-wilder-on-transfer-deadline-day.amp.html
Doesnt sound likey have much of a plan or a set targets like our recruitment team. Sitting down on deadline day to discuss players and their attributes.... Weve got a great setup. I'can't wait to see how Hecky does if he gets some money to spend on some players of even better quality and to retain the cream of the crop instead of losing them in the january sales. Fingers crossed it all goes well.
People keep saying this as if he's had massive funds - that's an average of 500k per permanent signing he's had to make due to sales/contract issues. In isolation £6m is a lot, but he's bought a hell of a lot with it.
Partly. But he can't buy players much in excess of that as players in excess if a million will be wanting wages higher than we would pay.
He does don't choose to spend it in that way. We had to recruit in bulk because we had sold off the entire team. I'm sure he would have rather had the pre January team and added 2 players to it. Unfortunately we found ourselves needing 10-15 players so a budget of 6 million has to stretch pretty far.
It was a good read that. I'm not sure how we can't be compared to it, announcing players at 10.00ish and one a hour after the deadline. I'm sure it was just has frantic.
"Players are the victims" No. Greedy players who do whatever their agent says purely for money are the victims.
That was a good read (despite the club in question!) Makes you realise why some deals are announced later than expected, and quite what the club are dealing with! Agents really are the paracites of the game. Personally think Hecky and the team have worked wonders to get this squad put together.
Makes me laugh how agents get all the blame. Yes I agree they're parasites but the players are happy to go along with their wishes, they could tell them where to shove it.
Exactly. A player stood in a tran station wanting to sign for a club can tell the agent that he's signing from that club if he really wants to
Agreed. Makes you wonder how much talent is wasted at these big clubs when the players don't seem to want to play football.
If there's any victims in this... its the fans Relatively speaking.. its always them that dig deepest into their pockets,
I waiting for the day when a player says he doesn't need an agent because he's enough self confidence to do his own negotiating.
That's what I was thinking, It sounded much like a buy for buyings sake. Not sure what role Hecky has in identifying players but I'm certain he'll have input on whether to sign a player or not.
Good point, never understood why the PFA is not fully involved with this type of thing. I can get all sorts of legal services assistance through my union
