A friend has just bought his first pc. It doesnt have Microsoft Word installed. But he does want it. His relation has the Microsoft Word original disc, including licence number on the back. Although it is installed on his pc, would he be able to install the same software on my friends computer? It does say that he must access the internet to register the software. Would this mean that he wouldnt be able to reinstall the software as it has already been registered by someone else? Failing that, what would be the best way for him to get Word on his PC? Download from a fileshare site? Any help would be appreciated.
Buy it! or failing that use open office. The latest version is pretty good, and should be enough for most people. http://www.openoffice.org/
Download and install OpenOffice Suite (a free alternative to Word) , We use it at home and for work without any problems.
whats on the open office? i haven't got ms office but need compliance with word/excel/ppt etc. if i download this will it give me this?
RE: whats on the open office? It will definately open normal word and excel files. Although I have had problems with password protected excel files. This was in the old version though, so dont know if it has been fixed. I am not sure about powerpoint, but it does have a similar application, so it probably will.
RE: whats on the open office? Just checked, yes it will open and save in powerpoint format: http://www.openoffice.org/product2/impress.html
