Interesting - point. I do find myself - begrudgingly as I know some fairly unpleasant Leicester fans - wishing Leicester well on a weekly basis - if only to keep alive the dream that the names on the trophy will not be limited to those teams whose fans appear predominantly fickle and lacking moral fibre - and to give real football fans something to dream about. I used to keep an eye out for AFC wimbledon as they progressed through the leagues, Burton and even Doncaster when they were crawling out of the conference enjoying success vicariously pleased that real fans were getting the success being a real fan deserves. I can't say however that I do have or every could have a long term second team in football - even in another country - except of course unless you count cheering on whoever is playing Manchester United this week.
I keep an eye out for Valencia's results as I've spent time working with people from there, visited a number of times and taken in a match on each visit. Amusingly, all the people I visit there are Barca fans! I actually don't mind who wins the Prem, as long as it's not Manchester United or Liverpool. I do however have a second team and that's Celtic, due to family connections in Glasgow, I take in a game whenever I visit.
I keep an eye out for Man Utd results and still go to the odd game. They were my first team until I was about 16/17 years of age. I don't bother with any other teams although I do hope Leicester win the Prem this season
