I've had a look at the release candidate they're offering free at the moment

The interface is more like Vista than XP and a lot of the new features are actually slightly annoying. But there is some good new stuff
The biggie for me tho is that it's not such a resource hog - low memory footprint and does the simple stuff quick and slick like it should be.
It will be a big impovement of Vista I reckon.

Doesn't look enough to get my hand in my wallet when it's released properly though. I've got so used to Ubuntu and got it set up and customised just to my taste. Simply put I don't need a new OS at the moment, so won't be buying one.

    Mine went OK.

I downloaded the iso file from the Microsoft website and they gave me a licence key.
I installed virtualbox to make a virtual PC and installed 7 to that without problems.

Ignore anything asking for drivers before you get into the desktop. Those drivers are for RAID.

    Which one?

It was Darkness last time I was in and it was the best drop of beer I've had in Wombwell for months.

    It technically still is Vista

They could have done all this with a free service pack (like they did with XP SP2).
