talking about how players are learning.

Talking about players that break into the first team really young age. Saying that sometimes managers play players at a young age and it affects how they learn and progress.

Saying if they get into the first team and play at 18 they can't t do the double sessions and learn about the game because they haven't got the energy to do it.

Now I wonder if this was something that the likes of Mason Holgate was told about and took into wanting to leave Barnsley. Will this affect Bree's future?

I find debates really good. I really enjoy listening to people talking about what they think about a subject.

They used the example of Walcott. He's always played since leaving school and didn't get the chance to learn in training with the reserves or u18's.

It's Monday night club, bbc radio 5 live that I'm listening to if anyone else wants to. Tuffers and vaughan at 9.30.

So you'd agree then that for a young player at maybe Chelsea or arsenal that experience in the age groups is better than being out on loan at a team like... Mmm let's say Barnsley for instance?

From what I gather Pompey red is they like to loan players out for half a season. Learn in the u23 matches and training and then second half of the season they go out on loan and it's very different. It's about winning and what goes with first team in football. I think I read that from a Manchester United report on how they go about things

Learning and then match craft and getting 3 points.

    It's about both.

It was something I thought about when listening to this and the thought about Holgate/Stones and then Bree and I really rate Bree and really see him going to the top. Now does he have to leave oakwell and maybe move to a big club say Everton and get that learning in at 18/19 away from the pressure.

I don't know if you went on Saturday but the fans are close and even at 18 I'm sure hes in a way of winning games and and resting when he can and not doing the extra's with people of the same age.

I can guarantee it didn't enter Mason Holgate's head. At least 10,000 other reasons did.

    Utter ********.

The best players can play at whatever age. Your buddy Rooney did it.

And Owen broke through at 17. And Beckham. And Giggs was 16 wasn't he - he had a decent career.

Utter, complete, total nonsense. As usual from people paid to talk about football.

At 18 years old I could wake up Friday morning. Work. Pub.club.party. Breakfast. Pub. Game. Pub. Club.party. Breakfast.pub. Super Sunday. Town. Kebab. Home for 1am Monday and back up for six for some graft.

And I'm about as athletic as a block of cheese.

Should be a piece of piss for a pampered 18 year old professional athlete to train twice and a couple hours classroom work.

Thought it was a debate. Was everyone in a agreement with this or have you just posted the side of the debate that you agree with?

All down to the player really I think. Ryan Giggs disproves the theory of "too much too young", but there are young players who didn't go on to have the type of career you'd perhaps have thought they would have. But I think in the latter case, it's usually that the player who wasn't quite as good as everyone thought they were. Giggs was well managed and developed into an intelligent player over a number of years, and sustained his performance levels for a long time. But he played first team football.

Our squad has younger players hungry to play football, or acquisitions from lower levels/non league who've clearly improved and learned from playing competitive football - they're now holding their own in the Championship.

I think more Premier League youngsters could thrive in their club first teams, but how many are blocked by foreign imports in their place? Not saying it's a right or wrong thing, but makes me wonder.

Apologies if I've read that wrong - do you suggest Holgate left because he was being played too much ?

You seem to have missed the bit out where they were talking about young players today being mollycoddled and that they earn too much when they've achieved nothing.

You could argue that Rooney, Owen and Fowler were all past it when they should have been in their prime. Perhaps some people are better able to cope physiologically than others, but you can only really find out with hindsight - Beckham and Giggs certainly had longer careers at the top level.

If so it's a bit baffling seeing as Hemmsie was criticising Wilson for not playing him enough.

Unless there's an underlying agenda of accusing BFC of not looking after its younger players well enough.
