If the guy from Fulham is a defensive midfielder it could give us a load of options in midfield.

A flat four, a flat 3 in a 4-3-3, Diamond, box or even a flat 3 with one playing just behind two strikers.

Be interesting to see how things develop.

Or his usual 4-5-1 type ********, with Mifsud out wide out of position and JCR still playing as a sweeper.

    What about a rhombus formation?

With a trapezoidal back 4 and a singularity up front all on his own?

    All mine were 4-4-2.

I prefer a flat 4 with two wide midfielders.

We tend to call the wide players wingers now but they don't play like the Matthews and Finny's did in the old days.

Most of you are too young to remember the Days when a winger stayed within 5 yard of the touch line and never tracked back.

One of my ex-work mates from Wigan coaches part time at Liverpool's Academy and he tells me that Steve Heighway retired from Liverpool's Academy two years ago. He finished with winning the FA Youth cup. Liverpool's Academy is now run by a Dutchman called Pete Hamburg. But Rafa now wants full control of the academy as well as all transfers. That is the reason why he has not signed the new contract.
