Hecky gets so much praise from players. It's really great to see. I liked the story about how the whole team clapped the coaching staff in after the last game of the season. Players must realise how much Hecky and co invest in them, and the improvements and benefits it brings them.

Wonder if this means McBurnie will be the focal point of the attack, with Ugbo, Hammill, Barnes Isgrove & Thiam etc being rotated around on the wider attacking positions of a 4-3-3 or whether now we've got Gardner and McBurnie in Hecky feels we have the players for 4/4/2.

Good luck to the lad. Sounds like he has his head screwed on and wants to play. Compare his attitude to the likes of Jerome Sinclair who Sheffield united wanted.

Is a 1yr rolling contract good enough for Hecky?

Chastising the club has been a daily event on here this last summer. The degree of criticism got to ludicrous levels from some contributors. Maybe they will be back soon saying why didn't we spend five million on this player or ten million on another.

I'm very happy to leave the running of our football club to those who know what they are talking about. Offering opinions is fine but let's leave it to the professionals, eh? I've missed the last two storming home matches so can't wait for Derby and Villa next week.

If he's going to be starting regularly, I can see him being the target man in a 4-5-1 in a defensive formation and the same in a 4-3-3 with the pacey wide-players like Ugbo and Thiam forming the wide spearhead. You have to say that the club has established a clear ethos from board to coaching staff and to players. It is a distinctive of the club and it is working, so well done BFC.

There doesn't seem to be much of a role for Tom Bradshaw in this new regime. He could be one of many first team standard players who miss out this season. The competition looks very healthy.

Nobody can afford a bad game and certainly players must avoid suspensions. Gus, for example, might not get back in unless somebody gets injured. Ironic having given him the captain's armband that he might not play much.

I agree entirely with you , however, put your tin hat on my friend, as Dumb , Dumber & the rest of the doom merchants accuse you of being a happy clapper or similar.

It's an almost permanent fashion accessory. I've been accused of being a happy clapper often enough, but my response to that is always the same. I'm not a fan of evangelical churches and never have been :).

Years ago I attended a Baptist church in Andover a couple of times and was amused and appalled in equal measure looking around at the real "happy clappers". They were sincere in their beliefs and showed it in that physical way, but it did nothing for me.

I might be an eternal optimist concerning all things BFC-related but I've earned the right to be like that having suffered the horrors of the Fourth Division (1960s and 1970s) and the very real threat of going out of business when the club was in dire straits in 1966. Thanks to Buckle and Dennis, Thomas and Evans and later on Clarke and Hunter we survived and progressed. The club is in a great place now and can be so for many years to come. Those that choose to pull it down every time they think something has gone wrong need to read some of the history. This is dreamland compared to a lot of what has gone before.

I've read (some) of the **** you post. Should you really be calling anyone "dumb and dumber". The fact that you are using a phrase started by the board simpleton should tell you all you need to know.

Nice read but again it highlights that the player, no matter how much he will kiss our badge if he scores goals, is only here to enhance himself back at his parent club.
I do really hope he succeeds with us but that will only be bad news in the long run as once more we lose another player..... and then we all moan about it.

Gays should be happy with just being called puff and beaten up a few times because it's Dreamland compared to what has gone before...

Personally I think we should strive to be the best we possibly can be and shouldn't accept mediocrity simply because it's better than what there was 50 years ago. In a similar way I have installed double glazing at home even though 50 years ago it only had single pane wooden windows that were I'll fitting.

I don't see wanting the club to do the best it can as being negative. I see the idea that 'anything is better than what we had 50 years ago' is the most negative attitude to have. It is like telling your kids that they don't need to try at school because simply attending is good enough.

There's no one on here that advocates giving up and striving to be better. That's just a stick used to beat them with by those who can't accept a realistic approach to progress.

There are plenty who have said we don't need to do better off the pitch and who slag off anyone who dares to criticise our off field activities and say they are not good enough.

I've no problem with doing better off the pitch. If it can be done without jeopardising the future of the club by all means lets do it. It will be interesting to see what new approaches to the off field side are in the offing under new owners.
For me, oyher than throwing millions we dont currently have at the playing side the current best option is to try to increase attendances. Whatever way is tried it would be a very slow and uncertain process but we've generated enough cash recently to maybe think about lower prices.
