It seems to confirm what a few have already suggested, in that we abandoned the analytical model for player transfers in the last window. Player recruitment last season was a tangible step forward from previously, with most of the signings having an immediate positive impact on the team. Personally, I thought the decision to focus more recruitment from the lower English leagues was a factor in this. For whatever reason, we've abandoned that and the results speak for themselves so far this year.
One thing after another isn't it....No matter the reasons it adds further speculation to the workings of Barnsley fC and its owners...so much for transparency.... I'd hazard a guess meddling and the lack of guarantees on his part was instrumental in the mass exodus of staff we've witnessed recently...... In my opinion it's time the clowns left the circus that they have created...
Only thing would say in this is Oulare is on record saying we tried to sign him in January but he turned us down. So either the article is not 100% or Conway was doing this back then, which then raises if he was interfering back then did that contribute to leavers in Summer. Dike was also not identified via the spreadsheet either.
Did we abandon the recruitment system....or had they all just b#ggered off to forest? Either way we have had our pants down and totally unprepared for this season. Conway tried ....he came in and tried his best to put a sticking plaster on it by signing players..... but this is way above his pay grade/specialism he probably didnt know how to use the data/system...and we are now left with what we have. Funny isnt it...last season big val asked for a physical striker....got 2 and we finished 5th. This season we have ....well i dont know what we have! but there seemingly has been no public calls for specific players as yet and there will obviously no new recruits until christmas. This may be a very hard few months.
When we stuck with the "spreadsheet", i.e. no one over 25, no loans, etc. the board were accused of being inflexible. It now appears Dike and the Belgium lads were not selected using the "spreadsheet" and now the board is criticized for being flexible. The flexible approach appears to have been OK, with Dike a great find and Iseka showing lots of promise. Only Oulare being the dud.
Conway says the court case doesn't affect his working relationship with the Cryne's i presume james. its very difficult to believe it wouldn't He must have a heart of gold i would be throwing him off the top of the west stand....if it was open
I think there could be something in this conway and cryne maybe aren't working together in terms of recruitment anymore. Conway gone down a diffrent route?
