http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/29032012/58/premier-league-vieira-right-united-penalties.html A bit of egg on your face Patrick if you look how many have been awarded at Eastlands
Certainly interesting to see that City have been awarded more penalties at home than United over the past 5 years, despite Viera's suggestion to the contrary. However, I would be interested to know what the stats are for opposing teams' penalty awards when playing at the "big clubs".
When a player or representative of a 'big' club who themselves regularly benefit from dodgy decisions moan about bigger clubs getting more decisions you have to wonder what planet they're on. In the case of Viera and Man City I think it's planet 'attempting mind games'. They should try watching a club like ours if they want to talk about suffering from poor decisions and until then silence is always an option.
Here you go Calgary Tyke, this list gives you figures per season and you can change the date at the top to see figures for each individual season http://www.football-lineups.com/tourn/FA_Premier_League_2010-2011/Stats/Penalties/ I haven't added it up though too late for that!
Remember that the big clubs have more of the ball, more possession in and around the box, and the players able to draw fouls. It's no surprise that the best teams get the most penalties. I think the best comparison is penalties against, not penalties for...
A more telling statistic would be how many penalties have been awarded to visiting teams at these grounds. Remember Andy Liddle at Old Trafford in the 1998 FA Cup for example?
Re: A more telling statistic would be Penalties against is in the second link I put on. Yes I remember not getting the penalty at Old Trafford screamed myself hoarse! I suppose our slightly off side goal evened it out
Also on the FA stats link if you click on the team it tells you against which side the penalty was given
