Vaz Te has had a great season, for both us and WHam. Interesting that Gray comes out ahead of Davies on those criteria. Played less minutes, could it be that if he had played more he would be further ahead? Could work either way like. Andy Gray, Andy Gray Andy Andy Gray..........
proves what a bad bad decision it was to let vaz te go - either that or hold out for big money! espess on those stats.
I thought he was shocking when he came on at Blackpool. Cotterill came on and ran and tried to impress. Davies on the otherhand was slow and lacked urgency. Despite being a sub instead of running himself to the point where he's tired at full time, he looked like he was pacing himself :S
Are the flags correct or are they just guessing based on the name? Always thought Gray was English and O'Brien Scottish but those flags say Scottish and Irish respectively.
Yes I think we can fairly safely assume had Vas Te stayed we would have been higher up the table - the question I guess is would the difference in prize money and Season Ticket sales and ability to attract players to a club which didnt look relegation candidates again next season compensate for the money we received for him. As we dont know what we got its hard to have a real opinion but if it was around the 500K figure mentioned I think someone probably made a mistake
Just checked on Wiki. Gray born and raised in Harrogate i.e. he's English, O'Brien born and raised in Scotland i.e. he's Scottish. However through parentage or grand-parentage, Gray has represented Scotland and O'Brien Ireland U-19.
We got as much money for him as we were gunna get. He'd have been a freebie when he inevitably left in the summer.
That's a point l made to mates when they suggested 500k was ok, his goals could have fired us to a mid table finish, even without Butts in the middle, Vaz Te made half of his goals himself. A mid table finish would have meant more prize money, club more attractive to potential investors, future players, supporters would be more optimistic this coming summer and many would have renewed, probably more than last year. It was obvious a couple of months into the season he was worth a 2 year contract, a year extension should have been offered then. I'd assume we had him on a years contract to prove his fitness? Let's hope the club learn.
