Will world peace and stability be solved by Europe and China forming a new alliance to contain the threat of the US/Russia being lead by loons?

We are obviously buy a lot of their goods, what, as a continent, can we offer to China?

We can't call Russia & US loons without also calling the Chinese government the very same thing can we?

The treatment of Uyghur muslims and basic slavery puts me right off 'em.

We probably can’t. But there are probably European leaders (we’ve had a one or two recently) that could also be considered loons.
It takes one to know one, as the saying goes.
World peace depends on a balance of power and if Russia and America start looking after each others’ mutual interests, there needs to be a counterweight.

My take on this is we're back to 1939. However, this time we're the gatekeepers of civilised society without the might of the yanks behind us.

We've been that soft for years that Israel is a greater ally to USA and it will end up being us fighting the good fight purely because of our ideology.

Whether that's right or wrong I'm not going to debate on here.

Do you think the US will allow BRICS to continue in it's current fashion or take further action? I just can't see any alliance happening between US & Russia. I know it's easy for us just to chuck easy words out due to Trump and his bizarre, weird stances on things, as dangerous as it is. The amount of money loaned to Russia from China, allowing Chinese markets to thrive in Russia, I just struggle to see Russia going against China in any way serious.

I'm not being facetious by the way bud, when I ask a question or whatever, it's sincere. It's not just to play devil's advocate. I know bits & bobs but it wasn't really until Israel/Palestine when I really started looking into 'world affairs'. Its certainly a web of complexity - I miss being blissfully ignorant 2 years ago in my 20's:)

In honest truth, I’ve absolutely no idea. I am 43 this year and haven’t really had to be interested in world politics in my life time.
The fact that Russia won’t go against China and Europe is unlikely to go against the US is kind of my point.
As far as I can see Trump wants to control the USA in the same way that Putin controls Russia. He’s got a huge task because it is inherently unconstitutional, but he’s already signing executive orders to overturn the constitution/existing law.
If he does turn the US into a media controlled, insular society then it shifts the balance of world power away from the Europe/US vs Russia/China vs rest of the world to US/Russia vs Europe vs China vs Rest of the world.

Maybe the world needs this reset, but I’m not comfortable with the people driving the change.

Me too.I remember clocking off on Friday. Going out getting 5h it faced, not getting home until 3am. A couple of hours kip and away to Stockport or train to Barnsley.

World affairs never bothered me as much as getting rid of a smelly finger.

Completely agree on this point, bud. I'm incredibly lucky that I live where I live, in the time I'm alive, the most disappointed I get is on a weekend with something as daft as football. It's only when you hear/read/see whats happening around the world you come to appreciate just how fortunate you are.

I think it’s less about where and when you live, and what your day to day worries are, it’s more about lessons from history not being learned, science being ignored, people resorting to base emotion and regressing into outdated mindsets.
