living where we do in the middle of nowhere we have a VERY limited broadband connection, in fact at the moment it is non-existant. So I've reset the internet settings to use the isp dial up service until we get the broadband problem sorted out.
However after only a few seconds, a minute at most, it disconnects itself and then redials again, even if I'm in the middle of doing something or it is just idling. (I've set it to do this after one second in the settings box)
Can anybody tell me if there is a setting within internet options, or wherever, that can prevent this constant disconnecting. As you can imagine it is very, very frustrating.
    Thanks as usual.
PS I'm off to Warsaw tomorrow to watch the reds, hope I can still pay on the gate.

    Errrrr.... Dave

Barnsley are playing Walsall, or are you off to see Jacob Burns playing or somert?!?!

Dial up eh. I'm sure there's a setting somewhere, which you can specify to disconnect after so many minutes. Looks like thats what your problem might be.

I've not used dial up for so long now though, I can't remember where it is/how to change it.

Maybe email your ISP? See if they can advise you..

Dave, are you using Outlook Express? Have you got it set to hang up after sending/receiving? Goto Tools, Options,Connection and check that there isn't a tick in the hang up after sending/receiving.

Cazi, I've checked what you said, but....

the box "hang up.." isn't checked.
I've a feeling that we get disconnected here when someone in the village farts, takes a shower, when a dog barks, when a bee stings, when I'm feeling sad.
It really is SO poor the connectivity here that I think we've simply got to learn to live with it. I mean, Ive just been on here typing this tripe, 5 minutes maybe, and I'm still connected....!!!!
    Thanks for your suggestion anyway.
