Anyone watch the program the other night about the English army in afghan? Just watched it now and it brought a year to my eye when them 3 lads were killed. A true credit to this country our army.
Very moving and shows just what they are up against. One of my best mates is over there now, cant put into words the ammount of respect i have for any serviceman
i watched that amazing people amazing but i just kept asking myself Why what the f...ing hell is all that about. A complete waste of young mens life and it wont make any difference to anything when its all over.
Mario - You say youve been in the Army, being the nosey sod i am do you mind me asking where you have served? Tell me to bugger off if you want.
I went to quite a few places such as Norway, Kenya, Egypt, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium. Also spent some time going up and down very steep hills in Wales and Scotland. And the cherry on the cake was active service in Northern Ireland - that was a lovely place to be.
My Auntie was in Northern Ireland in the mid 80's then served in the 1st Gulf war, she was shot there in the leg and she packed it, she says Northern Ireland was an horrible experience. Had a few mates have close shaves in Afghanistan and one currently there, comes home in a week though. You see what some of the young'uns over there are having to go through at such a young age, you can have nothing but admiration for them.
Absolutely spot on; the brave men and women who serve in our forces have my utmost respect. A mates son is out in Afghanistan serving in my old regiment and he is home next week. Godspeed.
