Been a few threads on here about how the board are going to approach the championship this time round. We are now plying our trade in one of the top 6 leagues in the world. Investment/exposure is bigger than it's ever been. We need to think bigger & outside the box this time round. Leave the local businesses to advertise on the boardings & the potential new scoreboard & try and get an international brand in for future shirt sponsors etc. We've got a good relationship going with Kia Burrows so why not use this to try and get the main Kia brand on front of our shirts for example. They were Atletico Madrids shirt sponsor 5/6 yrs back. Is Patrick now in a better position to sell the club.??????? Club would cost roughly £6m to take over. No new ground needed, just one new stand. Only real investment needed would be on the playing side Plenty of Asians getting involved in football clubs of late.
I'd love to think but we were as attractive a proposition to sponsors at Atletico Madrid but we aren't really are we... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Point is,we need to think bigger this time round. Last time, finishing 4th from bottom for 7 seasons on bounce was acceptable. That's when the rot sets in. Mindset needs to be different
I'd rather us be in League 1 with Patrick Cryne than in the Premiership with a Vincent Tan type who wants to change the identity of the club. With all the dodgy people out there it would be too risky selling the club to someone just because they have tons of money.
That has nothing to do with budget imo. Plenty of clubs spent bigger than us and gone down . The strategy the club. Has adopted needs to be given a good chance ,young, hungry, reinvestmentable players that's the future . Don't want the club bankrupted and it still goes ti ts up . A sensible approach is needed and a sensible approach is being taken imo. A manager that is honest doesn't over complicate things and is respected and trusted by the players goes a long way and that is what we have at well .
id thought about if asos have been asked to sponsor us on something i wouldnt want them to be anything more than just a sponsorship though
For every Vincent Tan there's a Chansiri. Whether people want it or not Patrick is still looking to sell the club
Unlike sheff weds fans reds fans will not take kindly to being fleeced whatever goal is set by the board. Prices have rocketed at Hillsborough and if they had not been in contention would have seen attendances at really low numbers . The gamble almost paid off but could quite easily have gone the other way , Patrick won't sell to rip off merchants ,nobody but us Cares about bfc ,outsiders would need assets as collateral.
Why call for new owners when it finally looks like theybe sorted their **** out and we are headed in the right direction for the first time in about 18-20 years! Looking forward to us battling it out next season no matter what we spend or have invested. I want to see how hecky does in this tougher league. Can HE make the step up? Hope so...
We make a big play out of Hecky being one of our own, well Patrick`s one of our own also, it`s our Tarn our Manager and our Owner. Believe brothers and sisters.
Shaw Carpets for me.... Saw a couple of lads wearing them at Newport Pagnel Services on the way home, made me smile...
Masses of investment isn't a guarantee of success. Look at the list of clubs which have gone down into league 1 with a much healthier budget than ours. You say that there's a Mr Chansiri for every Vincent Tan, but surely the jury is still out on the former. He's told the fans that they'll be in the premier league for their 150th anniversary, meaning they have to get promoted this season. If that doesn't happen, I reckon the wheels will start to fall off. There's no guarantee that we'll be rattling around the bottom 3 all season either. There's no guarantee that we won't either. But I just don't fully understand the notion that you need massive investment to make it, because if that was the case, I reckon we'd be in the bottom half of league 1 at the very most. We finally seem to have the club in shape off the field. Relegation helped that in my opinion. And now we've got the personnel on board to make a better fist of it this time in league 1. We just need to invest wisely in playing personnel. Again, another area where cash doesn't guarantee success. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
I'd go with this. We have a plan and we have a strategic look on things. It has been acknowledged on past mistakes. Everyone is on the same page. I am happy to see if our owner and board and the entire club can generate success in a higher league using the same plan. Rather than scramble to become the next club to chuck money at things it hasn't got.
