At this moment, ten members using the BBS are listed as invisible users.

    Why?

Why do folk join a community such as this and opt for invisible usage? Why don't they want people to see that they are logged in? What is the point?

Because they are spying on this site.

    which is just as likely.

    RE: or totally paranoid

I can see why people might want to hide their number of posts. I mean .... it can suggest a person has nothing else in life, but, with a few exceptions we are all......sort of....mates on here....aren't we?

I just think it seems odd to not let anyone see you are online, considering most of us don't know each other. I also think it's a bit daft when an invisible poster actually makes a number of posts in succession, cos it's possible to work out who they are anyway.

    One was me

I'd forgotten to log back on. Put it down to old age and insanity on my part. I'll be logging off in a little bit to go to work.
    That's my excuse.

To be an invisible user you have to actively disengage your identity.

You didn't do that did you Lil?

    It comes with the sotware

and to be honest havent thought about it much
If you post whilst invisible you give the game away

If we turn if off people can view as a guest and still " hide"

Maybe its people viewing from Work who dont want to leave footprints - could be embarrasing especially if Work is a local football club

    No I didn't

Is that what you have to do? I never knew that.
I simply forgot to log on and thought that's what was meant to be an invisible user.

are you suggesting that employees of a large sports leisure company would be viewing this board? along with members of a local weekly selling newspaper?
