A bit of basic info reqd please on Ipod's. I'm not even sure of the difference between Ipod and Ipod Nano for example. Can you just transfer ordinary Mp3's from your PC to an Ipod or do they have to come from itunes???? Any other thoughts or advice would be appreciated..... TIA......
as much as I know, very basic...
I have a 4gb nano - it's very small and holds about 1,000 songs... I've bought a case on a lanyard so I can carry it around my neck, very nifty.. the only differences between iPods really is the spec and nothing to do with how they operate... as far as I can tell!
I downloaded iTunes onto my pc 'cos that's how you transfer the music onto your iPod... I've got music on there from the music store (via internet connection), ripped from my cd collection and transferred from Window's media (as cd's previously ripped and stored as WMA files in my library).
in terms of the WMA files, it just converts them to be compatible with your iPod as you import them to your iTunes folder.. dead easy and I mean easy, if I can do it, then a monkey can...

Just get an mp3 player that isn't an Iplod, and use normal mp3s without any worries.
RE: Can you view video's on ipod and ipod nano??? not the nano... the fanciest thing a nano can do is show photos, the memory's not big enough (only 2 or 4gb)
there is an iPod with about a 40 or 60gb memory I think that you can play video/dvd on - my friend's got one and it cost £200+
